I have a 2011 rts sm5 with 49543 miles on it. My rear tire is a Michelin defender, 21560R15. The front are the Kenda from BRP. I have a GPS, a Spot tracker, an E Z pass for tolls on the east coast except Florida. My friend ride a Goldwing. We get up at 4.30am, get on the road at around 5.00am burn a tank of gas or 140 milles, stop for a big breakfast. Then every 2 hours stop for fuel, bathroom, water, energy bar, walk around to stretch. We always use truck route, because it has every thing that you need in one stop. We take turn to lead. At around 500 pm stop for supper and burn another tank of gas, and put up for the night. Motel every night, need some good sleep. We rode between 700 and 800 miles a day depending of traffic during the day. I have good riding gear, and warm long underwear for morning chill. We rode in weather in the morning from high 30 to low 40, until it warm up in the 60 and 70. In the south the weather was nice and warm. Extreme wind in Arizona and southern California on highway 10 and cold. I lost the side panel on the left side that you remove to check the oil. I had my dealer do an oil change before I left, so in Virginia a gust of wind took it. I was going 75 miles per hour on a 4 lanes highway and bye bye. No I did not try to retrieved it. So in all it was awesome. To me leaving in Maine the state I like the most for scenery, California, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, and the Keys in Florida. You have 21 days to do the 4 corners tour. Anybody can do it. Check with SCMA (southern California motorcycle association). Just go do it. :ani29:
