There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ricz is correct there is no 600 mile service only 3000 mile service for a Sea 2 Sky Model Spyder if that is the model you are talking about.

Well, the 600 mile service is a break-in service. They do some inspections, change the oil and filter, and make sure things are up to factory specs.
The 3K mile service is basically the same. They may do some extra inspections for the 600 mile service, but I believe the 600 mile service is more about ensuring the spyder doesn't have any malfunctions are damage to engine, trans, etc.
Lots of people say avoid the dealer for the 3K mile service. I paid for it, and in hindsight, if I were a wrench guy, I would've done it myself.
The oil change kit from BRP will cost you ~$100, plus however long it takes you to do the work. There are posts on how to do the oil change, plus you can find videos on youtube.
To answer your question though, the services are pretty identical. I just looked at my records and they did pretty much the same.
You can look to pay $300-450 for these services from the dealer. It's your decision if it is worth your $ and time to do it yourself though. Personally, I say follow whatever services are in the manual.

Break in service at 3000 miles. Regular oil changes at 9,500 mile intervals or once a year thereafter. Note: if you do the 3000 mile break in service, your next oil change is 9,500 miles later (12,500 miles). Then every 9,500 or once a year.
This information is in the service manual. If a dealer tells you different, have him show you about the 600 mile service in your manual.

This service thing has been :bdh:!!!! Many times!!!! Myself I am from the old school, and I would have no problem to do a early oil, filter change, just for the hell of it, in my book it's cheap insurance! And why not take the time and make sure that all the nuts and bolts are tight and you don't have anything rubbing where it's not suppose to be! Me, For the most of the time I work on my own stuff so it's a cheap item, if you don't work on your stuff then it's a crap shoot, your choice!!! More than one persons found filings on there magnets on there drain plug on that first change!! You do the search on this site and make YOUR own choice!!! Good Luck!!!

Unless you enjoy throwing money at stealerships that intentionally try to rip off gullible customers, read the maintenance schedule in the manual and tell the stealership to get lost.

:agree: X's 9 ..... and if you never take your Spyder in to a dealer for any work .... your Warranty is still good, as long as you have records for what you did .... and Your Spyder is way less likely to have any un-explained broken parts. The number of members here who have reported " Dealer Damaged parts " after getting their Spyders home is a lot higher than one would suspect ..... and if you but aftermarket oil and filter you can do an oil service for about $35.00, with better oil .....
