• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

30 Tooth Sprocket

I would like to hear some feedback on these sprockets. But my gut feeling is that Scotty is right. Dropping RPM's is not necessarily a magic bullet. You must have the umph to go with the lower RPM to make it work.

Just moving the load down in the powerband (which starts pretty high on the Spyder) may work fine on long distance, flatland, freeway cruising. But unless you want to immitate cross county, long haul 18 wheeler's you may not like the added teeth for all around riding.

I'm like the rest of you. I'd like to have it all too! My wish would be for a 6th gear, an Over-Drive. It would be like a 30 or 31 tooth sprocket but only when it would do some good without taking anything away.

Of course I'd like to keep the reverse too. Like I said, I'd like to have it all!

I've thought this since I bought mine, but have also noticed it doesn't like low RPM's. Have tried speeding up when I have let the RPM's drop below about 4000 and ya have to drop a gear or it shudders like crazy.

Surely I am not the only one that is doing this already?

1st Gear - Under 20
2nd Gear - 20 - 35
3rd Gear - 36 - 50
4th Gear - 51 - 65
5th Gear - Anything over 65

If I am remembering correctly, on my Spyder 60 mph in 4th gear is a tiny bit over 5,000 rpm. 55 mph in 5th gear turns 4,000 rpm so I haven't really been using 5th gear very much at all. :dontknow:

You're remembering correctly. I usually run 45 in 4th and anything over 50 in 5th until I want to pass something or accelerate. When I drop below 40 I drop to 3rd.

Not much information there. Ok, a 400 RPM reduction, at what speed? I assume maybe at 70mph? But they don't say. Could be 75, 80, whatever.

.
29 to 30 tooth should provide a 3.45% RPM reduction throughout the band. Not much.

.

I sent PM's to a few that purchased them on Ebay. This is the only response received so far:

Hi unfortunately the sprocket has not been mounted yet so I have no direct input for you .However the principle is the same as sprockets and it should cut highway rpms down a fair bit ,as a result you will lose some bottom end torque .Hope this helps

Will post anything I receive.

Yuck...cut my 0-60 times...no way! That's one of the fun parts of the bike!

I have found that at 70mph, in 5th gear, it's about 5500 rpm...I think...
