• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

28,000 mile maintenance

I have a RTS that is approaching 28,000 miles. How many of you are doing this mileage maintenance. Also I would like to know what the range of cost people are experiencing?

Have you looked at the maintenance schedule in your operator's guide? If so, would you consider not doing such important things as changing the HCM filter (assuming your RT-S is an SE), changing the coolant (28,000 miles or five years, whichever comes first), changing the fuel filter and canister pre-filter, changing the spark plugs? Prices will vary depending on the labor rate(s) where you live. You can save some $$ by doing some of the tasks yourself if you're so inclined. The spark plugs are the most difficult task IMO.

I recently had my 2016 RT Limited done at 31,000 miles. I had all the Filters changed, Full Synthetic Mobil 1 Racing Oil, and new Iridium Spark Plugs. I asked my Dealer to save all the parts, so I could see and decice on future Services. The Tranny Filter was real dirty and definitely needed changing. The Air Filter wasn’t bad at all, and the other Filters I couldn’t see the insides. But the Spark Plugs looked like new, and were not burnt or corroded. I really think they would have been fine until at least 50,000 miles, so, I will run the replacements longer as long as the Spyder runs O.K. But I would always change the Oils and Filters near the Factory recommendations.

RICZ,....It was $778.00, but I brought my own Mobil One Motorcycle Racing Oil in, as I always do. They supply all the other stuff, like Gaskets, Filters, Washers, etc. They also checked for rust on the Sprocket at that time, and found none, yet the Sprocket failed 3000 later! They also adjusted the Drive Belt. The Spark Plug Change took the most labor, but I also had both Head Lights replaced included in this price, because one was out, so I expected the other one to go out soon. Replacing those Lights are very time consuming, as well. $450 was the Labor charges on the Bill, which also included changing my failed Fog Light Switch on the Warrantee, the second time. I think the Charges were very reasonable, because it would have taken me DAYS, to do all that stuff my self, even if I had the Space and proper Tools. My Spyder ran better than new after I got it back. Money well spent.

007James....What was the total cost for that service?

007James....thank you for that very descriptive answer to my question. I pride myself with doing my own maintenance, but you pose a good argument for having a shop doing it. Providing, of course, you trust that shop. I have concerns about mine. Hmm.
