2025 Pulse and Origin Reveal - did they fail mileage hopes?

Did anyone get a price range on these things? I didn't go into the building features, and it appeared that was the main method to get a price.
I am not a big electric vehicle fan, but I was surprized that the price on a new Ford Lightning pickup was so cheap. Around here, you are able to get a new Ford XLT crew cab for about $48k out the door. That is cheaper than the gas version. Nothing that I would buy, but it was neat to see the pricing. But for now, I will stick with my old school Lightning and it's 15.2 mpg ;) :doorag:

not ridiculous.
Pulse $14K-16K+ all the fees
Origin $14.5K 16.5K+ all the fees.

Of course, based on different available trims

I was surprised at the comment about no new diesel cars, but Google confirmed that the only non-commercial diesel vehicles you can buy in the US are pickup trucks.
Apparently caused by EPA rules about exhaust emissions.

In America, you know, 'The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave'. It's bad politics to simply come out and say you can't own this or that anymore. So, when you want to ban something, you simply regulate them out of existence. Making requirements that are impossible to meet, or making them so strict that the product is no longer profitable. They've done this successfully for a myriad of products. And now with the diesel engine. I think they were actually surprised when diesel manufactures were able to meet the early phases. But no matter. Keep squeezing and eventually, it just isn't worth it anymore and the end goal is accomplished.

Regulators don't run for office. No one votes for them. They are pretty much autonomous and it works quite well.

Has anybody figured out about the "charging station?" I saw them plug the Pulse in during the video. I see nothing about the charging unit or the cost for it. I am guessing this is no extension cord that plugs into a standard outlet.

I am also wondering the cost for the charging unit. ???

Usually, an EV comes with a standard 110v plug (in North America) or whatever your local power output is. I don't know of a vehicle that does not come with at least a base level charger. Now if you want fast charging (which destroys your battery pack) you have to go out and buy that.

My friend Brian bought a Zero One when they first came out, loved it, until in broad daylight, someone swiped it, rolled it down the street into an unseen van, and it was gone. On Camera yet. Off Burleson Rd in SW Austin. Insurance reimbursed him 90% and he bought an Energica, a bigger, better, Italian e-bike that's apparently made with Craig Vetter's son, and he rides it all over.

CO is full of charging stations. They (e-bikes) sure look nice and boy do they scream. But you're right about the raw materials. I UBER PT, and trying to reduce costs, I traded my Altima in on a Fusion Hybrid. It gets a steady 34mpg around town. So it's been nice, but doesn't hold value, and I hear the trans give troubles too, so I'm trading it in on a Hybrid Highlander that I can tow our Spyder with. This gets the same MPG that the Fusion gets, even with AWD. Go figure.

So should we go back to horses and buggies? That would that make less carbon! I miss that Altima, it screamed! But the stock headlights were crap. It ran like a scalded rat. Never missed a beat. Elon's factory here is huge, but they're just like Samsung, slow in paying contractors for construction.

I don't think we need to switch back to the horse and buggy. But the difference is, people switched to cars because they wanted to. And without any subsidies or government pressure. There was no one banning or regulating out of existence the horse or the buggy. Carbon is only a problem if you think CO2 (you know, the stuff that trees need to make oxygen) is a problem. And if you think that. Don't wear a mask! While eight times the normal level of carbon dioxide (normally about 0.04% in open air) is toxic, research suggests that mask-wearers (specifically those who wear masks for more than 5 minutes at a time) are breathing in 35 to 80 times normal levels of Co2.

For any of those wanting to buy an EV, Hertz is getting out of EV's and has a fire sale going on. You can even take it for a test drive by renting it and Hertz will ask you if you want to buy it at the end of the rental and will ship anywhere in the states for free.

No Need to pay full price for a new one now, Hertz is flooding the market and the depreciation on new ones is awful due to this. That didn't take long before they started dumping them.

EV's are very unpopular. Manufacturers are losing their shorts on these vehicles. Even with the hefty government (meaning you) subsidies to keep prices down. If these subsidies are removed (as may well happen with DOGE), what little propped up market EV's still enjoy will go away quickly.

I have a factory stated range of 150 miles. I've never gotten more than 130 miles on a full charge. And that's without running anything but the headlights and wipers in the rain, all the way to Zero because there were no operational chargers on my trip (though Google said there were). My brother has a 300-mile range Tesla. He says he's doing good to get 200 miles out of it before he has to start looking for a plug in. The reason is that you don't ever want to get anywhere near 'Empty'. Because if you run out, you're in big trouble. So, you pretty much need to find a charge when you reach 20%. In short, a 300-mile range, even on a good run, is not going to be anywhere near 300 usable miles.
Before I retired, I often had to travel on short notice.
Many times, the drive could be 1,000 miles or more one way, with one day to be there.
Seeing your real world numbers, we're a LOOOOONNNNGGG way from electric vehicles being able to replace a normal car.

Which is fine. Electric may eventually be our future. But government cramming it down our throats is not the way to do it. I have an EV and I like it. Back and forth to the shop everyday (8 miles), it's perfect! But if I only owned one vehicle, it definitely would not be all electric.

EVs are a good thought. Something better would be to install wires in the interstate hiways that would be able to charge an EV.
Not sure what this would cost.

I really wonder if anyone has thought about doing something like this.
Have a great Day. (y)

Is it just me or did the long-awaited Pulse and Origin fail to meet mileage hopes?
I was hoping for a good 200 miles... maybe 150, or way faster charging time.
They may need to talk to Elon and get on that supercharger network. 1hr+ charge time to full, from under 20%?

They are truly made for local rides. I guess that's cool as an alternative mode of transportation. Not overly pricey in comparison to 1 of the 3-wheel models, but still... I was just hoping for more! :sour:
Back to the original topic, BRP's new electric bikes.

Yes, I agree. Lots of hype from BRP and a lack luster product that is only useful for in-city commuting. Nearly useless as a recreational motorcycle. Like most manufacturers, it looks like BRP will spend a bunch of money on initial development and product, only to see sales far short of projections. Then they'll scale back the EV product and go back to developing what they know best and can actually sell for a profit.

The F3 series is LONG overdue for a refresh. No other Spyder model has ever run this long without an update.

The F3 may not have had a major redesign lately, but it's still a very modern-looking design.
Most people who see mine are amazed it's 10 years old. I've seen several design changes in the automotive industry that definitely were NOT improvements.

I agree. I'm not big on change for change sake. Or just so you can say 'New & Improved'.

Granted. Anything can be improved, I get it. But how much more do you want to pay for an F3? And how many excellent products have you seen get a facelift, only to discover that you liked the original model better?

So, fine. Make the F3 better BRP. But please be sure it's truly being improved in a meaningful way. Because I find no fault in it just as it is. Matter of fact, I have a 2015 F3 because I think it was the best F3 built.

I too ride a 2015 F3 and its right at 100,000 miles. As we have several long distance rides still planned including a trip to Alaska in 26, I will be in the market for a replacement this fall. I hate spending 20k to get another copy of the exact same bike I already own. I will, but hoping beyond reason that there is something new and updated announced for 2026 model year. If not, I will be looking for a new in box leftover 23 or 24.

I really like my 2015 as well.
I do wish the tuners would figure out a way to disable, or at least turn down, the stability and traction control.
With my FuelMoto tune I can very easily break the rear loose, but it's really unsettling when the nanny steps in mid-turn, and jerks the bike back straight. 🤬
