There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2024 Dash Display suddenly changing &/or freezing - anyone else? Any fixes?

My Spyder RT is a 2024 with the digital display dash. I have approximately 3200 miles on it at this time. Just recently when I have been riding the dash information will all of a sudden change to a different display. For example, I may have it on Gauges and it will change to Navigation. I can toggle back to Gauges but sometimes I actually have to stop, turn off the engine, wait until it shuts down, then restart the engine before I can navigate to what I want to see. In other words, it freezes and cannot be fixed without restarting the engine. Has anyone been having this issue and if so how can it be fixed. Thanks.

I haven't had this problem on my 2024 Spyder RT, but I also haven't ridden it anywhere near that many miles. :(

You're not alone. I had my display freezing up on me a couple times on a ride last week. I was using MyRouteApp via Apple CarPlay and at first thought it was the app. But then couldn't get back to music. And there was some other weirdness that I don't recall right now. I was riding with a group so I didn't have the option to pull over each time it happened. Turning my Sena off and back on to turn off ACP didn't help. Disconnecting and reconnecting the phone (while stopped at a signal - not while riding!) didn't help. Only restarting helped and that's hard to do with the 20 seconds or so it takes to do that, I couldn't try it until we stopped for a break. Heading out again on Saturday so will see what happens. I'm on the current V3.1.0 version of the software and I just checked that there are no updates available.

Thanks for letting me know I am not the only person experiencing this issue. Have you researched any solutions? I did an update a while ago but didn't have any issues right away so don't think that is what causes the problem. Let's see if we can find some help.

Maybe it's an Oregon thing? :)

I tend to agree that it wasn't the update, since I was out earlier last month for an all day ride with no probs.

I have not done any research yet.

My initial suspicion is that something went awry when I got out of cell phone range. I thought I had my playlist downloaded, and was working with a downloaded map and route, but I can't say for sure. But even then, it should only pause the iPhone apps until the phone reconnected. It shouldn't cause problems with the Spyder's display.

I'll be heading out again on Saturday, on the same route as last week, so I'll get another chance to see what happens. Since we're not expecting rain, I'll mount my phone where I can see it so that I can tell if it is freezing up or if it is just the display. And I'll be sure I'm working with downloaded data, so that I shouldn't be dependent on cell signal for those apps to work.

Didn't have any problems with the display freezing up or changing from screen to screen on its own during my Saturday ride.

Not to say I didn't have any problems, but they seem to be app related, not display related, like: MRA Navigation going into and getting stuck in recalc mode a few times; MRA not giving me verbal instructions (started out OK, but somewhere during the ride they stopped); and Music getting paused when MRA should have been giving me directions (it should only silence the music, not pause it).

The display froze up on mine a few days ago when I first turned on the key. The little video didn't play, and the warning screen did not appear; the screen just stayed blank. I turned the key off for a few seconds, then back on, and all was well.

I'm having exactly the same issue. It may be the cell signal but I'm using offline maps for that reason. In Australia.

This whole display is a big piece of JUNK! They should immediately FIRE who ever is heading that department.
We should be filing Class Action Law suits against BRP.
I can’t believe they are getting away with this!

I have updated, rebooted, taken out and re-installed everything you can imagine. I am NOT able to get Car Play working since their last update. Can Am/BRP has stolen my money via deception and I’m obviously not happy. What a shame.

I got Apple Carplay working about a year ago on my 2024 Spyder RT S2S. I have an iPhone SE 2nd Gen and a SENA bluetooth headset installed in my helmet. The headset is paired to my Spyder, and when I ride the iPhone is plugged into the USB port in the glove box in front of the handlebars.

I just got my 2024 Spyder RT S2S back from my dealer after having it in for the 12 month service.
One of the things they said they did was to download the latest software updates.

I just went out to my Spyder with my helmet and iPhone, turned the bike on, rolled the throttle forward.
I then turned on my headset and the Spyder's display showed the headset connecting.
I then unlocked my iPhone and plugged it into the USB port in the glove box.

After a few seconds the Apple Carplay icon on the Spyder's display became active, and when I touched it the map displayed my home's location.

I am sorry you're having problems, but it works fine on my 2024 Spyder RT Sea2Sky.

But, I only have about 800 miles on my Spyder.

Works fine on my STS 2024 with a little over 7500 Km’s.

Sena SRL3 and iPhone 16 max pro, but I had an iPhone 13 Max for the longest time on the bike…

A failing battery can create a whole bunch of one’s and zeros into a digital signal path like the cluster and create weird problems. Cycling the key off and then restarting seems to temporarily stop this phenomenon but you might really need a better battery to be installed. I had a somewhat similar issue with mine last fall. If it ever quits raining here where I live I might get it down to the dealership for replacement.

My 13 month old '24 S2S freezes up constantly. BRP says nothing is wrong. Either the USB connection with the phone is failing or the display is a piece of junk. I'm letting my attorney discuss this with BRP as they do not care anything about customer satisfaction.

If you are using an after market lightning cord try changing to an OEM Apple one. Sometimes the after market cords are just a little bit wonky.

Well I have to take back the fact that everything is fine…

My screen froze on a few rides lately, latest update. Yesterday the whole screen reset, a little scary while running at speed, CarPlay had frozen and I was about to try to find a place to stop to reset that, when all the sudden the screen when black and I even had to roll the throttle to get out of the warning to load the screen! CarPlay did come come back running .🤷🏻‍♂️

I never had a screen reset itself… scary at first.

Something is definitely wrong with the firmware, I’m at 9,700 Km’s and had the new S2S since last mid Aug last year.

I will check today, but I installed the last one a month ago… and I didn’t see any more updates available, the bike gets wifi in the garage…

I know you might think this silly, but screens going black and then having to roll the throttle to get past the warning REALLY smacks of a dud or dying Spyder battery!!

If you've got a 2020+ Spyder that's having any issues like this, and especially if the battery is still the OEM Haiju or whatever battery, then so many people have had problems with them that yours has got to be suspect!! So if you do have one of them, I'd suggest that it's likely well past time for getting it load tested and looking for at least if not better than 12 volts under load... they really are crap batteries that aren't properly suited to the task, and from numerous owner's experiences reported here on the Forum, one of them lasting anything much more than 6 months and still being able to run everything properly all the time is beginning to look somewhat akin to a full blown miracle!

You might scoff at the idea, but seriously, why the bleedin' 'eck are any of you continuing to put up with these symptoms without doing this most basic of tests?? What can it hurt to check your battery properly and remove any doubt about it being at least a part of your problem?! Sure, it might not have anything to do with whatever your Spyder's doing, but there's enough people reporting similar issues here that're ending up being resolved by replacing the crap batteries that anyone experiencing these sorta freezing or blank/black screen problems without doing that load test first up and confirming that it's not (or otherwise) the battery, everything/anything else you do could be a complete waste of time!! 😖

Just Sayin' ;)
