2022 Ryker with an oil leak - incompatible parts!

Hello everyone, and I am delighted to be in your group. I just purchased a new 2022 Ryker 900 Sport. I’m a mechanic, so I changed the oil after 200 miles , like B R P suggests in their web page. So I installed the new o ring and washers . The Red o ring from can am parts are red , the original factory installed o ring was black. Anyway I tried 3 times with the Red o rings , but every time they would leak . So it’s at the dealer with 219. Miles , and dealer say they are going to replace the oil filter housing , and cap I hope . Just a heads up , there is a documents proven case of oil leak at filter cap seal! Let’s hope they can figure out what parts are incompatible

I thought the first recommended oil change was at 3000 miles (at least it was on my 2019). That stinks about getting the wrong fitting parts, though.

The ryker oil leak has been duplicated at dealer level , case going forward with BRP . In BRP website they recommend changing oil and filter at 200 miles after the initial break in . It’s in writing on the internet . All new vehicles need to have oil and filter changed after manufacture breaking . I can’t get text of claim , but I’ll keep you updated.

The conclusion is there is an oil leak issue with my machine . The end result is in the dealers hands . They informed me late Friday afternoon that they are ordering a new oil filter housing and cap . Hope it works

It’s in the fine print , it states; Break in period is 200 miles or 300 km. for the Ryker.Further states; This is common practice in the recreational vehicle and motorcycle industry where the smaller engines produce high power levels, as well as being designed and manufactured to exactingly standards.It is typically recommended to perform an oil and filter change after the break in period to remove the resulting contaminants and small metal particles that result from the interaction of the new components working together. The first servicing on your Ryker should be done after 6000 miles or 10,000 KM. I will say remember there is a difference between oil and filter change an Service intervals .

I could fix it if I knew what it should be, but the 'bro-world' bit is only a part of the problem - that link will never work as it is cos it is missing something from the guts - do you know what has been dropped from the large bolded & underlined bit in the middle?? :dontknow:

I'm not attacking you. I just wanted to read about a documents proven case regarding oil leaks on rykers. If you are saying that it is document proven on your machine then that is a different story and really doesn't surprise me. It is just that you gave me the impression that this is happening often on rykers, and I really haven't seen that on this forum. To further clarify, I wouldn't be surprised if it was like 1 in 20 machines that this happened to. It is an assembly line afterall and they don't normally hire MIT grads for all the stations. All production is the same, people on the line get boring repetitive jobs normally for low pay so crap happens. It isn't the 1920's, but things haven't changed that much. Managers still push numbers, with half of them not knowing how the floor works.

I understand completely, I worked at G M dealerships In a mechanic role and have seen plenty of faulty parts . I hope that this is an isolated case , but everyone , please change your oil and filter after break in period .

Update . A new oil filter cap stopped the oil leak . Must have been a faulty cast , or millig . Now I trust the Ryker .
