Just make it cut and dried -- Tell the dealer (preferably the sales manager or owner) what you want to pay. If they laugh, leave. I have done this and I always get a call the next day to come in. They usually met my price.
I'm not suggesting you low ball, but give them a price that's reasonable to them and you by doing some on line research.
