• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2020 RTL Is there a way to remove foam grips w/o ruining them?

My bike came with the large foam grips, I would like to try the bike with out them.

Is there a way to get them off with out damaging them so I could reuse if I want?

In my experience, you can easily slide them off. I use gel type hand sanitizer. Now, that said, I also found them not to relax when removed and will be loose upon reinstall. Luckily, they're only about $15/pair. I get the longer ones, as they're generally cheaper and easily cut to length.

Another option are some Grip Buddies. They are removable. I had the Lites version for a Tiger 800. https://www.originalbeemerbuddies.com/home.html

A jet of Compressed air directed at the (tiny??) gap between the foam grips & the grips underneath will often help you to remove them....

That said, the foam grips are the weaker stuff so it's always gonna be a bit of a pain to get them off in one useable piece, & no matter what you do, if they've been there a while, it's often impossible to do anything but damage them beyond future use on removal - which juuust happens to be the easiest & least frustrating way way to get them off, too! Good thing that replacement foam grips are so cheap! ;)

If you need to order other stuff for your Spyder and its over $100.00, you get a free set of foam grips from SpyderPops.

If I were going to remove my foam grips I would shove a chopstick between the foam and rubber grip and wiggle it around the circumference and then just pull it off. I would not reuse the foam grip(s).

Foam Grips ..... most of the ones I've seen for sale now are .... slip-on .... however the previous owner may have GLUED yours on :gaah::banghead: ..... good luck ..... Mike

I just ripped them off and tossed them, I did not realise that they were so thin. Much better w/o them, that is me..Thanks
