• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2020 RT and F3 Limited

Went down to my can am dealer this morning and took a seat on he RT's and F3 Limited. I understand
that the RT's are loaded out and the F3's not so loaded. MY question is the RT's and F3's the same wheel base
and do they run out the same on the highway. The F3 was not comfortable for me to set on as the angle of my
legs off the seat were sharper than I expected. Had cheap looking reflectors on back of the fenders. Overall
both bikes were nice looking, but for now no room on pricing. They had not sold any neither.
I be looking for some opinions.

Dray, did you adjust the u-fit board position on the F3-L to another of its 5 settings? That may have addressed your leg angle off the seat.....not surprising that there are no discounts given the age of the new models ;)

The F3 is smaller then the RT (lower, narrower width). If you look at other dealers you can find dealers that will deal with you and give you a discount of msrp on 2020s. Shop around Look on the home page here at IMotorSport they will deliver to your door free and I bet you can get a deal there on top of that.
 
Go to Conroe, TX. I just saw a brand new 2020 RTL go for less than MSRP! Go see them. Great folks!
 
Handling at speed is much easier on the F3. You sit IN the F3 and you sit ON the RT. Once adjusted via U-fit, I found the F3 to be my favorite ride of the two. Properly set up, what a wonderful ride.

Rode em both extensively before I bought. I agree 100% with ARtraveler:thumbup:
 
One strong consideration that favors the F3L (for me) is that it is much easier to service having far less Tupperware. That's something to think about if you intend to do your own maintenance.
Yeah, the F3L has fewer gee-gaws than the RT, but they weren't important to me. What was, is its ability to carve the twisties.
BTW, I was very uncomfortable on an RT. Go figger, eh?

Yes, fewer gee-gaws. Coming from RT's since 2010, I do not miss the gee-gaws on my F3. On a positive note, less stuff to go wrong.
 
I had 2 RT's before I bought my F3 Limited. I'll never go back to the RT. Just felt cramped in the RT as I have long legs. Now I got the F3 at position #5 and grinning from ear to ear.
 
Dray, several of the replies you have received are from people that have not sat on or ridden the new 2020 RT. The new RT handles almost the same as the F3 on the road, this was not the case on the older model RT. Also the new RT is actually easier to service than the F3 as it now has a panel that snaps off to access the oil filter, on the F3 you have to remove 4 screws to access the filter and two of those screws are easily damaged.

Dealers in Houston area are dealing on the RT so it might be worth your while to take a ride.
 
A general suggestion...

Just don't get into a fighting match over the subject. Let's not call others out.

The 2020's have received good reports...so that is a consideration vs. other years.

For me, and just me, the 2020 upgrade was not worth the additional $7K difference I would have had to pay for a 2020 RT.

Actually his Title is 2020 RT and F3 Limited.

Thanks Ann....yes, the OP was definitely referring to the 2020 models and is getting some replies from those who are referring to previous year RTs and who haven’t tried the new RT. It is interesting that the F3-L and the new RT handle about the same. That info on accessing the filters and general serviceability is also very valuable. It’s a loooong way down to the ground to get those grill screws out for me :D . But it looks like unless I can come up with a way of moving the foot position and brake forward, I will struggle with legroom.

It would have been awesome if they had been able to utilize the U-Fit system on the new RT. I’m with you, it is not quite as comfortable for my legs either so I will stick with my F3T for the time being.

The 2020 RT is pretty amazing it handles much like the F3, is better looking than the F3 and a lot better looking than the old RT! With 6 gallons more storage than the prior RT you can ride two up and tour without needing a trailer. Better wind protection on the RT than on the F3, heated seats on the RT Ltd, electric windshield with memory.

Did I mention 6 gallons more storage than the RT? That makes it more like 10 gallons more than an F3LTD.

The only negative for me is that I prefer the forward control position on the F3 over the mid controls on the RT, however, the new RT is still way more comfortable than the older models. It has 2” more seat room for the driver and 1” for the passenger. Also, the brake pedal is better positioned and you no longer have to lift your foot to brake. The 23” long floorboards are a big improvement over any of the other models.

Good morning, I received my new 2020 Spyder RT-LIMITED Tuesday the 24. just before the closure of my dealer for the COVID-19. I did my first ride yesterday. Wow, quite an evolution. Our first Spyder was a RT-S 2012, thereafter we had a RT-LTD 2018 (with all the problems of the electronic dashboard). BRP really listened to customer feedback. Here are some of the nice improvements. 1- Even if it is the same Rotax 1330cc engine I have the impression that it is more nervous, the gear change smoother. 2- The suspension gives the impression of being on an air cushion. 3- The bench just a little wider and longer and even more comfortable. 4- Dashboard, finally fully functional wow. The new basil makes cleaning much easier. No need to have a university education to change musical range and volume, thanks to the addition of independent control button, Bravo! 5- The Footboard now allow us several positions for feet and legs. By the way, I wrote to the company FOBO (TPMS) to ask if Fobo Bike 2 work with the FoboBike apps and they answered me no. But they are currently working with BRP to include the Fobo Bike 2 apps in the BRP Connect. They are in testing and the new version should be available soon.
