• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. 2018 F3L cruise control

The cruise control on the new F3 Limited will not engage? The parking light is not on, the foot brake is not being touched. Is there any other places to check? We are taking it to the dealer next weekend to have them replace some parts in the mirrors that bounce so much you cant use them and we will have them look at the cruise control but I was hoping that there was something I might be able to check and fix before then.

Thanks
John

Maybe a dumb question, but have you turned it on by first sliding the switch to the right.

On the 2018, there is no indication on the dashboard that it is on, only when it is engaged.

John, I too have a similar problem with my cruise control. I purchased a new 2017 F3 Limited two months ago and I had trouble with the cruise control. After fiddling with the switch I was able to get it to work but I still have trouble getting it to engage. Mine shows on the dash that it is turlned on but when trying to set it at a selected speed it is reluctant to set. Once I get it set there is no problem bumping up the speed. The manual says to push the button down to engage and up to bump up the speed. What I have to do is push down and to the right (a 5 o'clock angle) to set and to bump up the speed I push up and to the right (a 2 o'clock angle). Otherwise everything works as it should. I have logged about 5,000 miles in the last two months and will have my dealer look at the problem the next time I make the 280 mile trip for service. I can get it to work, so, the problem isn't so bad that I need to make a special trip to the dealer.

Bottom line, someone else has experienced some problems with cruise control and your dealer should fix your problem.

Regards,
Gene

you also mentioned mirror issues...

If you're having issues with your mirrors rattling and/or vibrating, you're not alone - a number of folks with F3's have experienced the same. There are posts on here describing fixes. Here's the breakdown of a very quick, easy and inexpensive solution that will cure both the shakiness and the vibration noise. Simply pull off mirror cover. Remove the screw at outer edge that holds mirror in place. Lift out mirror. Make up two small squares of double-sided tape (3/4" x 3/4"). Punch a small hole in center of square. Push tape squares over the two plastic pins at inner ends of mirror; then put mirror back in place, pushing pins back into holes in housing frame. The tape will now act as a thin, sticky "cushion" between plastic pin and plastic hole. (It seems the vibration and noise are caused by the slightly loose fit between pins and holes which allows the hard plastic parts to rub or bump against each other; the tape helps prevent this.) Put holding screw back in place at outer end of mirror and tighten. Replace cover. Then go out and enjoy your ride - with solid and quiet mirrors that work without shakes and rattles.

Others have already covered the cruise control issues. I can only add that I had to learn how to "play" with getting it turned on first, then set to speed. Sometimes seems finicky, but it does/will work. I find that I don't use it all that much, so don't really let it bother me.

I have never had any issues with my cruise control. It has always worked fine. The mirrors are a constant issue. I have taken them apart several times and done everything suggested here plus a few fixes I have come up with myself they are OK for a while then seem to get worse when I hit a hard bump or a rough area.
Hey Rev, are you still thinking about joining us next weekend for the Ozarks 3 day Ryde? We'd love to have you all. Its going to be epic! We have 13 signed up so far.
