• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2017 RTL

I anticipate signing the papers on Tuesday for my new 2017 RT Limited, trading a 2011 RTL. YEAH for ME! My question is....after reading through all of the forums, I haven't seen much if anything good or bad on the 2017 RTL. Is this a good Oman or bad?

Looking forward to Spring in 6 weeks and the chance to ride, actually the wife wants it more than I think I do, both spring and the bike.

Thoughts????

seventeen, schmeveteen.. If it wasn't broke in fourteen, it shouldn't be broke now.
You are gonna be okay, you'll wonder why you waited. Happy trails !

I think you haven't heard much about the 2017 because there were no groundbreaking developments.
The 2014 went from the 998 V twin and introduced the 1330 triple.
2017 had some different colors and a few more usb power connections.
The next big development was the 2018 glass dashboard.
I'm not wholly convinced that was a good idea, since the glass dashboard seems to be dependent on a smartphone and third party apps.
Still, I imagine you could still hook up a Garmin GPS and ipod if you wanted to be a bit more independent.
You should be fine with the 2017. Quite fine indeed.

I got a 2017 model in late 2016. I have put over 22,000kms on it since. Only issue I had was after going on a 50klm dirt road, we hit a torrential rain storm, and mud made the black light sensor stick, causing the nanny to act up. Once cleaned, everything was great.

I have no complaints with this bike at all.

I have a 2016 RTL and couldn’t be happier with it.

A great example of if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

I have a 2014 and have not felt the urge to upgrade for the same reason.

The change from the 2011 to the 2017 is good. You get the 1330 engine and less prescribed maintenance. We also currently have a 2011 RT.

I think your going to like it.:yes:

Only problem with a glass dash W/ the Gps built in (on a car as well) is if it goes for a poop you have lost all your way points and if out of warranty out a lot of money. On the 2017 if the Garmin goes POOF you can still "usually" plug it into a computer and up load your info , buy a new garmin and down load your info into the new one. I had my car garmin screen go poof - couldn't even tell if was on - plugged into the home computer, uploaded to gamin's site and down loaded back into a new garmin. Just say'n and just food for thought.
