There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. 2017 RT Ltd - Front Frunk - dash doesn't alert me that it's closed all the way?

The dash on my 2017 RT Limited warns me if the rear trunk is not closed all the way, I thought for sure I would get the same warning if the front frunk was not closed all the way.

The dealer tells me that was a special option----- monkey dong, they only come one way from the factory.

WHAT DOES THE FORUM HAVE TO SAY?

There is a switch in the edge of upper opening and a tab on the frunk lid, I would expect that to be the switch for the frunk lid. When the frunk lid is closed all the way, the switch is open. If the frunk lid is not closed all the way the switch is closed and gives a pictorial in the dash (in orange) that the frunk lid is not closed.

WHAT DO YOU SAY?

No such switch, never has been. I actually don't worry about it as it isn't going to open during a ride and it is so deep that if it did things wouldn't fly out and you would see it open up. Unlike the rear side bags/trunk which you can't see and things do fly out of, especially the side bags.

No lid open light. The other contact on the microswitch was used to complete the ground circuit for a solenoid to electrically open the lid, an option in years past but not since 2014 I think it is. If the frunk lid isn't closed tight that's no problem because the air flow over the front of the Spyder will hold it closed.

Can anyone tell me what the THREE wires on that switch are for? And where they go?
You're referring to the three wires on the frunk lid microswitch, right? It's a typical three way switch. One comes from the non-existent park brake/frunk opener switch on the dash. It's there so if you really want an electric opener for the frunk you can install it. It was standard on all models better than the base until 2014 when it was dropped. The second wire is the ground side of the frunk light. The third wire goes to ground. When the lid is open the frunk light circuit is completed to ground and the light turns on. When the lid is closed the ground circuit is completed for the non-existent opener solenoid.

I might get one of those non-existent switches, I like playing with wiring stuff and while I'm in there put in a REAL trunk light. Thanks for your help.

I'm right with you, Rev. I found the "light" on our '17 RT-S. I am going to find something useful and am also going to inspect the wiring diagram to see if the existing wires can simply be re-routed to power (fused, of course), lights and ground. Pretty much a stand-alone circuit that does not depend on the status of the ignition key.

.

I ended up using the existing light circuit and also have LED strip lights in the frunk. It uses all existing parts an switches. And did cut or slice any of the bike wires.
