• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2017 F3 Limit Battery Dead

Help - Cold night last night and now my battery is dead. How do I remove the frunk cover to get at the battery so I can charge it. The manual says turn pins counter clockwise. They are plastic and it seems you need to pop them out. My battery is only 4 months old, my bike is new and I had the key removed. Surprised the battery is dead.
Thanks in advance.
Jim

You can get pins out with a flat screwdriver. To see in the Video at minute 2:35.
I also had problems with my battery. With me it is because of the brake light switch. Sometimes it gets stuck and the brake light continues to glow after parking.

Open Frunk. The pushpins have a depression on two sides. Insert a flat tip #2 screwdriver and raise the inner part of the pushpin. Then reposition the screwdriver to raise the outer part, then remove both. Remove all 4, the Frunk “bucket” will lift out after you remove the black panel you see aft of the Frunk lid. This reveals the battery. If you have a charger, use it. A trickle charger probably won’t work. If you don’t, remove the rubber strap, remove the metal panel that secured the battery. Tilt battery forward at the top, use a #2 Crosspoint (Phillips ) and remove the black ground wire. Then remove the red wire on the other terminal. Lift out battery.
Take to any autoparts store for testing. If good, have it charged. If bad, replace. There are lots to choose from. We have installed quite a few Duracell batteries from Batteries plus. Less expensive, widely available. Your choice. There are lots to choose from; just make sure it is configured like yours: positive and negative terminals in the same place. With a charged battery, drop into mount, secure red terminal first, then black, then plate and strap. Return bucket, install pushpins, close Frunk, ride. Call if you need help. Number below. Joe

Possible Warranty / Technical Issue -- Alternator

Heads up .... you might want to run your VIN on the BRP site and see if it is flagged for a warranty or techinical service bulletin. The reason I suggest this, BRP requested delay in delivery of my brand new 2018 F3 Ltd because of a bad alternator (where it does not properly charge the battery even with extended ride time; maybe even overcharges ... not sure on that). Anyway, new alternator and new battery (BRP overnighted the parts) and I am good to go.

Just a thought ..... good luck .... Ann

Thanks all - was able to get the frunk insert out and jump the battery. Took for a long ride to recharge, things seem good now. surprised it died so fast. Thanks to all for help.

Glad you were able to jump the battery. I would still give it a good saturation charge with a smart charger.
