• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2016 RT, built in cables in trunk for SM10, no music?

Hi all,

I searched around, but my exact situation didn't pop up. Backstory: Had a 2013 ST LTD, bought the CanAm SM10 kit with dongles, SM10, etc. to install. After buying, we saw a new RT-S on the floor and fell in love with it (far more comfy ride for us old folks!). We bought it.

I bought the BRP bluetooth kit.

In the trunk is a female USB and female 1/8" plug already for an MP3, etc. I thought is was for the SM10 (derp!). THe RT-S has no BRP GPS, I bought my own with BT to use. I want to hear the stereo and GPS in my helmet, but the SM10 allows only two connections. So I have to run a 1/8" plug to the back to connect to the SM10 AUX? Seems like overkill for $250. I could just use the AUX jack with the bluetooth, but...

I just want to hear the GPS through the stereo. However there is no AUX when flipping through the modes for a general purpose AUX like a GPS or phone jack?? I can't get anything connected to the AUX jack in the trunk to come through the stereo.

Thanks!
Steve

The cords in the trunk are for input to the radio only.
If you want to hear "whatever the radio can out to the speakers" in your helmet you need the SM-10.

If your RT is same as earlier models there is a GPS audio in connection tucked away under the seat. Get a BT receiver, plug it into the GPS input, and pair it to your GPS unit. That's what I did with my 2014 RT, except I use a Samsung tablet for GPS. You'll have to figure out how to get power to the BT receiver. There is a power cable along with the GPS connector that is 12 volt power from the radio. You might be able to connect a 12v USB power adapter there and power your BT receiver with it.

There is no GPS screen on the audio screens. The GPS signal overrides all other signals coming into the radio. The volume level of the GPS audio out controls the GPS loudness you hear through the radio.
