• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2015 RTL Question

I thought I read something yesterday about some possible heat troubles with the 2015 RTL. is there something going on or did I just misread the thread?

 Do you remember where you might have read it?
I don't recall any serious complaints about heat from them. :dontknow:

Not that I have read

I own a 2015 RTL and I have not heard, read, or experienced any heat issues, but I have only had it since July and 8,000 miles.
So far trouble free and LOTS of fun!:yes:

As I see it...

I have heard mention of heat but don't remember the details. You will still have the new ryders who have never been on motorcycles finding that sitting over an internal combustion engine is a bit warmer than sitting in an airconditioned car. Now as far as it being an issue...No...that I have not heard or seen on the new 1330. All I can say is..There will always be heat coming off an engine and the best solution is don't start it up....:roflblack:

I think it was a new rider and like Chupaca said you have to expect some heat around the glove box and the sides. The heat is nothing like my old 2013 RTL and after the recall work it seemed like a different :spyder2:. I went to the 2015 because of going to the 1330 and from the bad memories of my accident on my 2013 RTL.

I believe that Chupaca has your question pretty well answered. I don't recall heat on the 2015 RT being any kind of a problem.

2013's--?--That's a whole different ballgame.

i have a 15 RT, not L but there is no difference as far as heat is concerned and no issues, of course i havent had it in summer yet but i can already tell way cooler than my brothers 2012 RT. I think you must have misread the year, the 2013 had a big heat issues!

depends

If you are coming off a Goldwing,The heat is not something you are used to. Is it unbearable-NO. It's just not what you were used to. I had the 2013 recall airvents installed on mine. BIG improvement. All brands have their quirks. Randy

Heat Recall

I had a 2012 RTS and know of the heat issues , now have a 2015 RTL there is a bearable heat around the glove box nothing like the older models. I checked for recalls before I purchased the new air vents there were none. I installed the air vents mostly because I liked the look and it did make a big difference with the heat around the top panels ..

Pie Warmer

I have a 2014 RTL and whilst I haven't owned the earlier models I did consider that the glove box was of no use in Australia other than keeping pies warm.

When the bike was in for its initial 1,000km service I had the dealer install the vents that the earlier RT's used for the heat issues, this was done at my expense.

This combined with the removal of the acoustic panels has resulted in more effective cooling under the Tupperware and I am not concerned in placing my phone in the glovebox any more.
Have also fitted a Spyder Attitude Cat Bypass, very happy with the present operating temperatures
