There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2015 or wait until 2016?

I would appreciate any thoughts or advice. I've decided that I am going to purchase a Spyder F3-S SE6 very soon and I'm trying to determine what I should be considering.

My wife and I moved to Dallas a few years ago and are now looking for something fun to do. I have ridden motorcycles for over 20 years in addition to airplanes. We sold everything before we moved here for work and also had our first child(who is now 2.5). My wife has always been concerned about me getting another motorcycle for safety reasons now but interestingly, she's always wanted to ride them. We've decided that we need something fun to do and are going to buy the F3, likely 2 after she takes her operators course.

I understand the 2016 is coming out just after the first of the year and I really do like the triple black option. Unsure if I would like it more than one of the 15 paint schemes and I don't know what the difference is in the 2016 models vs 2015 to know if it's worth the wait. My thought may be to leverage the purchase of 2 F3's, picking the one that my wife wants now and me waiting until the triple black comes out. Or just buy 2 now and leverage for a better deal. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Our plan is to use them primarily for riding around town and some country rides but would like to take a weekend trip here and there. What options would you make sure you selected right in the beginning? One of my biggest concerns is visibility by others, especially if I waited for a triple black model. Additionally, we may take friends with us and when our son reaches the legal age of 5 here in Tx, we would like to bring him a long.

Thanks for your help in advance. I look forward to being a member on this site as an owner in the near future. Chris

My advice...

BUY NOW!!! :yes::ohyea::yes:
Get yourself a 2015; there are some nice rebates in place at this time...
Besides; if you're waiting to decide what to do... you're not riding!

PLEASE Wait till at Least After the New Model announcements next Friday the 18th! After that I think you will see Even Bigger rebates on the Now Leftover 2015 F3's !!!
A week or so could mean a Big Savings at this point!!!!nojoke

Buy end of year

My philosophy on this subject has always been to buy at the end of a model year as opposed to being the first to buy the new model when they come out. I'm a high mileage rider, so it's nice to have a year go by that the model has been sitting without gaining any mileage on the odometer. Unless there's a major change (like the 1330 engine that came out in 2014), or a color or feature that I just HAVE TO HAVE, I like to buy end of year. Plus, you get a much better deal on the models that their trying to clear off the showroom to make room for the new ones.

Just my 2 cents worth :dontknow:

Can't imagine that there will be any major changes to the F3 for 2016. Probably some color changes and/or cosmetic but will most likely be the same overall. After the announcement of the 2016 models you could get a pretty good deals on the left over 2015's.

Thanks everyone. The excited part of me wanted to have 2 new one's in the drive way by the end of the day! But, I plan on waiting for another week as all of you suggest to see what comes out and what type of rebates are on the 15 models.

I always get a little concerned about version 1.0 of anything. I know this is a little different as it appears that it's really a step forward when you dig into the F3.

From a buying perspective I would really be interested in anything that is a must have whether it be a safety item or just really nice to have, especially if I can negotiate it into the purchase. My wife has shared she likes the white which I believe is a good color to have from a visibility standpoint. Black concerns me a bit even though I love the triple black matte finnish of the 16 coming out. I would likely be happy with the graphite or even the white myself.

From a safety perspective I think defensively as any rider should. When I've seen these machines driving down the road they are hard to miss and I'm not sure any color would matter but honestly unsure. The wide rear profile in addition to the breaks in the side seem to catch a drivers eye. You just wonder if the low profile, looking above could ever be an issue. Maybe a storage compartment on the rear would be a good addition as I've seen some that appear to have those. Unsure if there is added lighting offerings from the factory or if they are all aftermarket.

Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated. One other item I've been wondering is my iphone with the F3. Is there a charger you could get, especially if you use it with Google Maps which drains the battery quickly. The Garmin motorcycle GPS units look nice but I have a hard time spending $500-$800 on a GPS unit for a motorcycle, even though I can afford it. Maybe I'm missing something as I spent 3 times that for a portable GPS for my airplane but it had weather, traffic and it was insurance if my built in units ever failed.

Again, thanks for any advice, recommendations or other in advance. This is all new to me but I'm excited to learn and be a part of this group.

If you ever plan to ride at night I'd consider the aux lights a safety item worth having. The stock lights alone at night are pretty weak.

The aux lights also help increase visibility during the day.

For your iPhone, consider a handlebar mount (Ram X-grip or Techmount, for example) and add a USB outlet to the LH service panel using the customer accessory harness that's hidden underneath that panel. There's a thread or two on installing that outlet.

With only 5 days before the 2016 announcements, I would hold off on any purchases.

If there are any changes (which many doubt there will be), you will be better able to determine which may be best for you.

Once the game plan for 2016 is announced, there will be discounts available to get rid of the older stock. Advantage--buyer.

Wait until the new models come out. Not necessarily to buy but to see which models made the most changes. That will be the the best deal on the previous year and dealers will have the hardest time getting rid of.

Check with Louis Motorsports east of Dallas about 30 miles. (google) They set the bar on pricing. Get your dealer to match price. If not fly down and drive home.
