• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2015 oil leak

My 2015 RT has started marking it's parking place in my shop. From what I can see it is leaking from the seal at the forward pulley running down and across the frame and dripping on top of the catalytic converter. people following me say they see a puff of smoke some times and when I stop is smells of burning oil/rubber.
Is this a known issue????
I'm going to see if the dealer will pick it up but if not I'll ride it the 150 miles and hope they have a good wrench to fix it. I'm a life long professional mechanic but I'm not doing their warranty work.

I also have a 2015 RT with no oil leaks in the 6000 miles presently on it. I am just wondering if the belt was tensioned up too tight and the resulting wear on the bearing caused increased play on the shaft which in turn wore the seal?? Might be something you would want to investigate. BRP did issue a TST (Technical Services Tips) to its dealers in June 2015, lowering the spec for the belt tension on that machine from 1050 Newtons +/- 100 to 630 Newtons +/- 100. I did post a copy of this TST in another thread where there is quite a good discussion on belt tension. Anyways, let us know what the dealer determines the cause of the leak to be, and I hope you get it fixed without any problems.

Bummer..!!

Do hope it is only the seal and an easy fix... otherwise..:yikes: mostly the time.....:banghead:

leak update

Picked up the spyder yesterday and talked to the mechanic. The source apparently was a seal on the dipstick tube which let oil run across the top of the case and show up where I saw it at the counter shaft. He said once the plastic was off it was easy to see. I was looking from underneath and could not see it. Time will tell if things are good but it sounds like a reasonable explanation. I'm going to run it on the lift for awhile tomorrow and see if anything shows up.
