• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2015 F3 not starting

Interesting ..... the " rectifier " in the Spyder should prevent damage. However I don't think it was sized for what a car or truck Alternator might put out ..... maybe this isn't an issue ..... Mike :ohyea:

Voltage regulator on the bike only controls how much current the alturnator supplies to the battery. Maintains voltage. Which by the way is higher on Spyders than most cars (14.1 vs 13.6v).
Rectifier is the part of the circuit that changes the alternating current of the alternator into direct current to the battery. Its a configuration of diodes.

Neither of these have anything to do with the jump start or the vehicle at the other end of the jump cables. As long as the other end is 12v, there is no harm to the Spyder.

This isn't that old of a battery. Plus I have been riding it all the way till about last week. I find it hard to believe that the battery is bad

To quote Scotty, 'Its dead Jim'

I cannot tell you why or how it died but from the sequence you have described with the drive and then dead once shut off, its dead or there is a battery cable completely disconnected.

Read this and remember a new battery has to be prepped properly so it will last. I have a battery load tester for small batteries if you are close enough. BRP found out years ago that early battery failure was mostly caused by not being properly prepped when it was sold.

Also to do a load test you need to charge it with a regular charger not a Battery Tender till it is fully charged. I do agree with everyone that it is probably dead.

This is also a good read.

Thanks for the replies everyone. What might be good replacement battery for my F3? Dontas want really want to go with the dealer again. Prefer to buy locally. Would auto zone or some other place have a replacement?

Battery

I prefer the Yuasa or an Interstate ...... you can get the Yuasa on-line at good prices an free shipping ..... I got the BS version .... yes you have to add the Acid, but it's easy ..... and then YOU charge it .... also easy, and that guarantee's it's fresh .... Mike :ohyea:

I can vouch for the Yuasa being a good battery. If you don't have any place locally you trust check this out. (http://www.lamonstergarage.com/can-...mance-agm-maintenance-free-battery-lamonster/). It's such a common battery you could also get it at many power sports dealers or maybe a SkiDoo/Seadoo dealer. Look at the size and make sure you get the same size as there isn't much room to play with in a Spyder. If you get the correct model number it'll work though. Like he said above once it's activated give it a slow charge overnight and it will increase the life. We used a Battery Tender that did 4 at once because the light would turn green when it was done on each one. Many will tell you it's ready to go but do yourself a favor and charge it first. Also notice on the picture that it says to charge it 5-10 hours.
All my experience came from a BRP SkiDoo background not Spyder.

Just FYI, most Harley dealers have a HD branded Yuasa that is also a direct fit. Have had to buy one at an HD dealer while on the road and one of our team lost a battery. They are proud of them but then you have a genuine HD.....
