2015 Can Am Spyder RT Limited, fog lights stop working

Hello everyone!
I’m new to this forum. On my 2015 can am spyder rtl, the fog lights just stop working. I’ve replaced both bulbs. Flipped on the switch, still no lights. Could it be the fuse and if so can someone tell me which fuse it is? I’ve read the manual but couldn’t find anything about a fuse for the fog lights. I really would appreciate the help. Thanks.

Does the horn work? If not, check fuse #5 in the right-hand fuse box. This 25 amp fuse powers the “load shedding” relay that engages the fog lamps, horn, heated grips, and the rear compressor. If the fuse is good, you may want to try changing the “load shedding” relay. As suggested above, the bike must be running.

JSRT, sorry to bother you and this may sound dumb but I can not figure out/nor sure which one is the load shedding relay. I've looked in the manual but couldn't find it there either. Looking at the right fuse box diagram. Can you help me with which one of the relay's it could be? Thanks

Ok my turn to show my lack of knowledge. But if I understand 'load shedding', doesn't that imply that the something on the relay is drawing too much power causing the relay to shut down? If that is the case it wouldn't it seem the relay is working, but one of the circuits on it is having a problem, such as a short?

I am not certain, but I think the load-shedding relay temporarily disconnects certain heavy electrical loads while starting up the engine, to provide optimal battery power to the starter. Once the engine is running, the alternator provides sufficient electrical power to the system and so the load shedding relay can drop out.

Do you have any idea as to which one is relay is related to the fog lights. I know fuse #5 is for the horn, etc. but not sure as to the relay.

Here is a wiring diagram. Hope it helps. I can send you the original scan if you PM me your email address; it might be easier to read

Check the switch connections maybe came loose:dontknow: should be one of easier accessible areas.

Thanks. I did replace the relay, turn-on the bike and push the switch to "on" position, still no luck. So now I ask, could it be in the switch, if so can anyone tell me how to remove it? Do it just pop out from the top or do you have to remove mirrors and panels to get to it? Thanks everyone for your help.

Here in the US, the Spyder uses a shutter system to switch between Hi and Lo beam headlights. In other parts of the world, they use the fog lights as the low beam headlight. I see by looking at your manual, that in your right side fuse box, you have one of the square, JCase fuses labelled as F4 LO Headlights. In either case, it seems that the same fuse could be used. See if you have a fuse installed in that position. If you do, check it.

PS; Typically, when it comes to checking any of those plastic case fuses, just looking at them is not always reliable. Remove it and test it.

PPS; Each one of those fog lights will have a wire harness connector. I would unplug that and check for supply voltage before I tore apart the switch panel.

If you installed LED bulbs, consider the polarity is incorrect. Also assume the previous bulbs failed and nothing is wrong with the vehicle itself.

LED lights are polarity sensitive, and every now and then are wired backwards.

Thanks everyone. I fixed the problem, it was my fog light switch. It was a rather easy fix, just pop out the switch from the top with a flat head screwdriver and pull out gently. Once you pull it out, tie a string around the wires so that it don't fall back into hole, unplug switch and plug in the new switch, replace back into hole. So if anyone wonder how to replace your fog light switch on a 2015 Can Am Spyder RT Limited, there you go.

Thank you, JSmooth, for your your solution report. It will assist other MY 2014-19 RT owners should their fog lights give up the ghost.
