• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2014 versus 2013 RT-S

Given the circumstances, do I buy the 2013 RT-S or hold out for a 2014?

... and how the two bikes compare...

The 998 RTs usually scamper right up to about 97 mph...
...and then take their sweet time getting to the ton!

I decided to give the 1330 a quick snort of speed, in a spot where the 998 never reached over 98 mph...
The bike jumped right up to 97; just like it's predecessor...
...and then kept pulling!
It made it to the ton with room to spare on this shorter, slightly uphill grade.
It went from 97, to 100 mph in about a third of the time that the 998s took for the same increase.
It's still no rocketship; but these hamsters definitely have bigger muscles! :2thumbs:

That story Bob of 97 to 100 and those 3MPH is not worth $9000 in my humble opinion.

I never said that it was... :D
I was just pleasantly surprised by the top-end exhibited by the new engine and transmission... :2thumbs:

Absolutely not...
But I chose my spot for the limited access onto the roadway, and the ability to see everything around the attempt thoroughly...

And I STILL could have been "cuffed & stuffed" :D

2013 vs 2014

There is no compaison. I had both the 13 & now 14. just got off of a 6000 thousand mile trip with the 14. I have a 2014 RTLimited. The best ride on a bike I have ever had. The 14 ran like a top, no noise, no heat. The gas mileage was great. 45+ on every tank of gas. I would by the 2014, as it is a all around better bike. Just my thoughts. Cannot wait for my nest ride.:sour:

:opps: I've got to admit; it's not something that I like to do... :opps:
It was PURELY in the realm of an experiment for the sake of allowing prospective RT customers to learn about the potential of the bikes...
Right! You realize of course that that one "experiment" was not enough to yield reliable results. You may have to re-run that test every few days, in alternate locations, to affirm that the data does not change over time, and that it is not influenced by external environmental conditions. ;)

Purchased a 2014 RT-S today

Thank you everyone who responded to this thread and the others I have started since joining last week. Your willingness to share the variety of your opinions and riding experiences was phenomenal. I walked into two different dealerships today. What I learned from you all and on my own at the Can Am website enabled me to know if I was getting a the truth or genuine help from the sales staff, and the confidence to make a good choice

Today, I bought my 2014 RT-S with the SE6 transmission from Sascha at Westside Motorsports in Spokane WA.

As I continue to learn more about my machine, I'm sure that all of you will be a source of information, advice, and support. Thanks again.

Len

Congratulations! The RT-S is a very sharp looking bike. Did the dealer discount the 2014 at all for you?

I had a choice of black, yellow, and white. I liked the yellow, but my wife thought it would look "dated" in 3-4 years. She didn't smile when I replied that we would just have to trade it in for a newer model then, so white it is.
I would have preferred silver, but I wasn't going to spend $1000 more for a Garmin GPS and a rolling suitcase, but I did order the driver backrest.
