• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2014 Test Ride w/Shawn- new post

Shawn has a great personality and does a heck of a job narrating his videos. Look forward to meeting him when I travel north this year.

Bells & Whistles

If you don't mind giving up the "bells & whistles" the base RT still represents a good value. I wouldn't mind the old style fenders. You could still pull a trailer or add anything you'd want to it. I see he added floorboards. Nice video!!

Shawn is a great guy & that's the only dealer in our area worth going to. Too bad they are over 60 miles away - keeps any consideration of a new Spyder at bay.

That's precisely why I left California almost 40 years ago.... I've grown accustom to the fact that anything over a 5 mile commute is too far...

Riding time in good weather here in the Great Northwet is too precious to waste a day running to a dealer for service.

An excellent video. Lots of chances to hear the "new engine sounds" that we have discussed a bit. To me, it sounded a little bit like a diesel when he first started it--then changed as throttle was applied.

On a scale of 1-10, the video is a minimum of 9 for sure.

It definitely sounds like a diesel and I am getting used to it. I was back on the 2011 for a few days and that one sounded loud and annoying to me after being on the 2014.

Sounded Like a Triumph

Sounded just like a Triumph triple which now comes in five sizes: 2300cc Rocket III, 1200cc Trophy & Explorer, 1050cc Speed Triple & Tiger, 800cc Tiger and 675cc Daytona. I've had two Triumph triples, a 1996 900cc Adventurer and a 2010 Rocket III Touring. The new 1330 ACE in the 2014 Spyder RT sounds very familiar to me.

Nice. I enjoyed the ride. I prefer the slick fenders over the others. Makes me want a 2014 all the more. To bad about the ahole. Have seen similar here with semi drivers deliberately kicking up debris from the shoulder.

I like the slick fenders too. But, I do like the fender tip lighting on the new fenders. The slick fender light look like something that would have been on a German side car fender back in the 30's. :roflblack: jmo
