• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2014 RT

Have you tried some of the site sponsors? They are a great place to start. Also recommend that you use the search function of the site to look for previous threads. Reading them will make you a much more informed buyer.

Not busting your knackers, but at least tell him why.

I have heard from Diamond R armrest users they are wonderful but have also heard that sometimes passengers are lulled into a false sense of security and have had the arm perches swing out during cornering.

Again, no doubt a quality product but is seems there is not one perfect Spyder armrest made yet.

Besides the height concern with Corbins, I could see someone leaning on them and damaging the bodywork. It would take a bit of force, but probably does happen.

I took a test ride on a 2012 RT-S with the Corbin seat, driver backrest, passenger backrest with integrated armrests & cupholder. Looks VERY nice (I wasn't fond of the spider web stitching nor the slipperiness of the seat). The Corbin armrests are much better looking than the Diamond-R but the Diamond-R allow easier mounts/dismounts because they do swing. My wife enjoys them and they are similar to the ones we had on our last bike... a GL1500 trike. I don't think she uses them for support as has been suggested in this thread which would make them problematic in a hard turn. One thing that does effect safety is that she will flop her arms over the sides sometimes and in traffic this obscures vision in my mirror and I have to remind her to keep her forearms on the armrests in traffic situations. My wife wife likes the Diamond -R armrests as the Spyder grab rails are too far away and uncomfortable to hold onto for any length of time. It has been discussed as to how the grab rails could be extended but I don't recall a satisfactory answer.

PK,
If they swing that easily; some time with a wrench is needed... nojoke
We like them because they had some height adjustment available. MU Missus is pretty short... no; make that DANG short! :D Getting the height right, was important.
The fact that they move in order to allow for easier mounting and dismounting from the bike was also a prime factor in the purchase decision.
Now; they are NOT perfect...
If you lean on them; you WILL bend the mounting bar that they hook to...
Keep that in my though; and you'll find very little to gripe about! :D

With corbins you do not need grab rails any more

Wife went from (slow down,-- your cornering to fast etc etc to falling asleep after Corbins

White knuckles syndrome with grabrails is cured!

Btw she is a very experienced passenger
34 years with me on hogs to wings to yammerhammers

Of course this is just our input
I respect anyones ideas & opines

We own the Show Chrome arm rests.
They are not height adjustable but we verified the height would work before purchase, and it would seem to be the same as other brands in regards to height. Almost level with the rear speakers.
They attach under the seat. 30 min. installation.
They swing for passenger adjustment, and the tension can be adjusted. Mine do not swing on their own, you do have to push or pull.
We can add accessories to them. I have added mesh pockets which attach to the bracket under the armrest for my passengers cell phone, or smaller carry on items, and a drink holder.
They do flex, but do not bend. I am not worried about my passenger leaning their full weight on them, it's happened and nothing bad has come of it.

That's what we have and good luck finding the right ones for your Spyder.
