• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. 2014 RT

Desert Spyder

How does everyone feel about the 2014 RT's? I saw one at the nearest dealer while having my 2010 RT serviced and my heart went pitter patter. Any quirks?

None at all, they got it right this time. I have 10K on this one and it is far better than the previous models. I had a 2011 that had a lot of problems. If you can affort to buy a 14 its the one to buy.

Lovin' that 1330 engine

I really love mine; ability to go further miles on a tank of gas, no heat issue and that sweet 1330 engine power. I did have a few minor warranty issues - had to have the ignition replaced and maybe the fuel pump, but overall highly satisfied with no regrets

Went from a 2012 RTL to a 2014 RTL and love everything about it.
I haven't had any problems with it at all.
As they say, pitter patter just get at 'er!

No buyers remorse here. Have a lot of experience with :spyder2:'s and think the 2014 is the best one I have owned. 10K miles my first season of ownership.

My 14 rt is my first spyder and it is great. Still less than 2,000 miles but no problems so far. The wife also likes it.

Never heard of it....

Some one may have made mention of it here...:roflblack::roflblack: if its in the cards go for it..!! :2thumbs:

Only got 5k out of the rear tire on mine but other than that it is great

I've had mine 2014 RT-S for a couple weeks now. I knew I would love it, but I am enjoying it even more than I originally expected, and definitely no buyers remorse. Good luck!!

Just wondering ?

I'm just wondering if there is any relationship between more horsepower, the throttle, and the short life of the rear tire ? Any thoughts ?

I have 2700 miles on mine now and can't wait to put a few more miles on it. Take every chance to ride it I can. You won't be sorry if you get one.

I've heard about those rear tire mileage issues. Thats disgraceful. I've been putting Kumho tires on my Spyders since 2008. They average 15K miles. OK thanks for the tips peeps. BTW, did they ever get those rear grips to fire up and warm up properly?

If I had to choose between a new 12 or new 14, it would be the 14 hands down. If I still had my 2010, and was considering a 2014 - I'd still have my 2010 - but I didn't and I don't.. Otherwise, I'm really happy with my 14 RT - no regrets.

My wife and I trade off driving and I have used the rear grip heat and it works for me. I do not know how hot they will get as I have only used low.
As with everyone else my rear tire was gone at 6,000 miles so I replaced with car tire and have 10,000 miles on that and it still looks great.
Two issues that were taken care of under warranty (power steering and brake caliper). Other than that no issues and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

ONLY problem I have or heard of........Low mileage on the rear tire. My dealer claimed I HAD to use the OEM tire or VSS will not work properly. BS.

I have put more miles on my 2014 RT during the ryding season then I put on my 2 wheels in the two previous years added together.
