• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2014 RT

I only listened to the movie promo once but I didn't notice it called engine remapping but just a change here light to optimise fuel efficiency that being to shift at the point where the engine is doing the most efficient WORK as the engineering term. Dont want my engine remapping every set of lights or twisties I decide to play GP racer on. :dontknow:

I'll have to re-watch the vid. All in all the engine looks stonking  although I dont have a Spyder I would bemoan the loss of the V-twin and would have perhaps just preferred a bigger twin and a bigger fuel tank to increase mileage which was one of two points in the engine mapping exercise.

One thing I am a little surprised and disappointed about it their choice NOT to to go CVT. If you are changing to a inline 3 to smooth out the ride and economy why not go all the way? Can Am know there are CVTs to do it. I know you can get MORE out of a manual but can you get "enough" out of a CVT and my answer to that would be yes and a anything but the sports bike I thought smooth is all part of the experience and CVTs are smoother and usually more economic at the tank.

Having said that I would love to see if a engineer/mechanic can get the first wreck of these and see if it runs without a nanny so I could put it in a SXS project with the auto clutch and paddle shifter and a nasty tune and pipe. That'd be tasty!!

Not much stated about other improvements is there?!?! The engine is definitely the highlight so far....

They may have felt that the current CVT design that would handle the load, (The one in their Commander 1000), may have not had a wide-enough range of effective ratios for a streetgoing application.
But it WOULD offer up the possiblility of an all-wheel-drive setup...
Question: "Stonking"? interesting term; could you help me out with a bit more definitive description than I got from the contextual clues?

Not mine man. I love my 2011 RT and will ride it until it just won't go anymore. And then I'll bury in back of the house and build a shrine over it.

Same here!! Runs like a champ, no issues and I hate being on the bleeding edge of technology... Been there once and will never do it again...

Even if they didn't use the current commander or maverick one they would have tested a stronger one in development likely and/or as a developer they have access to stronger ones from a CVT developer. you'd need the transmission to AWD which overall maybe a better option to use that control system than nanny  (just anything please)

Stonking - sorry local lingo for a meaty beast of an engine.
