• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi all.... Newbie from Mandan here, well we just picked up our first Spyder on tuesday and seeing it being lowered down from the truck was like a proud new parents kinda feeling lol. It has 600 miles on so when i got it home i searched on here and you tube on how to change the oil that was kind of intimadating at first but i got it done but i noticed i could hardley see the antifreeze in the resovore so i looked in the manual and of course it's pretty vague on what kind to use would anyone suggest or post a picture of the kind you guys and gals use ? Thank

Well....

Your level is probably fine , it is really hard to see. But you can get the antifreeze from the dealer. On the older models any aluminum safe would work but I think the later models with the triple 1330 engine they were using something different. Someone will know for sure here shortly... congrants on your fine new ryde...:2thumbs:

See page 128 of the owners manual: The cooling system must be filled with
distilled water and antifreeze solution
(50% distilledwater, 50% antifreeze).
For best performance, use the LONG
LIFE ANTIFREEZE (P/N 219 702 685

FLUIDS

:congrats:...:welcome:....That is the 1330 Ace engine in there and didn't need the first OIL change until 3,000 miles ................But changing the oil early imho is a good thing because most of the crap in the oil, is going to be there on the first oil change............Anti-freeze, :agree: with Ann on this....No one here has found an alternative that can be MIXED with the OEM orange type......So unless you going to do a complete FLUSH and change ....then I would just stick with the expensive OEM type.....at least for the first 4 years.....NOTE: the Fill bottle cap is very tricky to get it on correct....and if you don't it can strip or not seal which will cause it to over-flow............................good luck ....Mike :bbq:

:welcome:Congratulations on your new bike!! The coolant tank is difficult to see the level; that said if you shine a light from behind or below it's much easier to see the level. The cap is just like on your car has two detentes, make certain that you have it all the way tight on the second detente.

Enjoy your ride, read the do's and don'ts for new owners for some good tips. Don't hesitate to ask your questions; good chance someone here has a correct answer for you as Anne did for the coolant.

saw that but with what antifreeze solutionYes i saw that but with what antifreeze solution ? I went to Walmart with those spec's the owners manual has in it and couldn't find it on the jug so i thought that all orange coolant should be the same right ? Wrong on the advice of my son i put it back and came home and looked up the brand and it is supposed to be bad and not recommened because after it starts to break down it gummes up your radiator.

That is a premix that you purchase from the dealer; but bring your wallet $$$$; I think to the tune of ~$12.00/quart:gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah:nojoke

I brought him a quart of both kinds since it didnt have a color of the contents on the bottle and he got a little testy figured i should know which one to use, guess thats why people from around here go else where to buy there Spyders, I wonder if the owner knows they chase away more Spyder customers then bring in? Thanks for all your help Spidee is now at the correct coolant level.

I would give the owner of the business a call. Sometimes they don't know about cranky employees, sometimes they do (as in don't care). Do your part, send another $$S hole down the road if you can.

Just to Piggy back: How do I get to the coolant reservoir to add more?

Hello and Congrats:congrats: to the new Spyder Ryders! I Just purchased a 2012 RT S-E5 last Friday. I have checked the oil (not full),received some very helpful tips on my brake fluid levels and the sensitive nanny. Now I have looked at my coolant and it is low. But I cannot get my hand or a funnel in there to add more. I am a visual learner. Is there pictures or video out there of which pieces of tupperware that should be removed so I can get to it to fill it up? The dealer I purchased it from replaced the tires and gave it a shine but now that I am checking it seems thats all that was done.

To open the cap you need to put your fingers flat across the top, push down then turn. It isn't easy but then nothing is really easy on a Spyder. To fill it get yourself a piece of tube - refrigerator ice maker feed line works great - put the tubing on the end of a funnel. Put the tube in the reservoir and slowly pour into the funnel.
