• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

smells like burning rubber every time I pull it into the garage after a ride. Picked it up in January. I have worked at trying to get the belt adjusted per numerous posts on this forum. Today I got the belt all the way to the middle of the sprocket and decided that was too much so I backed off half a turn on the left adjusted---went for a short ride and on the way back---after traveling in a straight line for 100'---stopped the bike and dismounted to eye ball the belt. It was right where it should be---1/8" away from the flange.

Wife and I took a 20 mile round robin and again when I pulled it into the garage I had the smell of burnt rubber. Also note that the belt was very close to the sprocket--not touching but much closer than when I eyeballed it earlier.

I have checked that the belt guard is not rubbing on the belt and there does not appear to be any other thing rubbing against the belt. I have noted the close proximity of the cat converter to the belt but I do not believe that is the cause. The belt does not seem hot nor does the sprocket. The smell is for sure coming from the belt/sprocket side of the bike and does not seem to be coming from the front sprocket but very close to the rear sprocket.

The bike has 1000 miles on it. There is not a direct line of travel into my garage so it is difficult to judge after pulling into the garage. I intend to check it again tomorrow.

To all the experts on this forum---am I missing something??? A bearing on the axle??? The rear tire??? I just do not have a clue anymore.

Thanks.

I would have an authorized Can-Am Spyder dealer check it with the proper belt tensioner instead of just eyeballing it.

I'M THE SAME WITH MY 2014 - THE SMELL OF BURNING RUBBER AFTER A LONG OR SHORT RIDE.:banghead:

Little checking..!!

If possible pull some panels and check that hoses or wiring is not up against the exhaust at any point. Even if the belt is off a bit it dosen't smell to burnt rubber. Once had that problem but turned out the lady ryding on the back had her shoe on the pipe and it was melting..:roflblack: There was smoke involved as well and a limp afterwards. There are some break in smell but should not be that strong...
