There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2014 RT GPS upgrade question?

Folks,
I'm trying to decide between getting a 2014 RT-S and installing a GPS, or getting the RT-Limited and trying to do an upgrade. (This will be my first-ever bike -- taking the MSF training at the end of the month).

First, has anyone upgrade the 2014 GPS from the 660 to the 590? If so, how big of a deal is that (what is involved -- new connector, new mount, etc.???)

I've seen the vid on installing a GPS, but I'd rather get a pre-made connector/wiring harness just to make things clean -- are they available anyplace??

From what I've seen, the GPS is the only real difference between the two models (other than cosmetics).

Any inputs???
Thanks,
Jim

I'm awaiting the 590 GPS mount for the Tri-Axis bars and it's on BO 'til 3/20. Zumo 660 had been around so long I wanted to wait for the 590 when I bought my Spyder in Oct. Dealer will install as that was part of the OTD deal. My son tells me the biggest difference in the 590 is it can hold a lot more planned routes. Will see. Mount is different from the 660.

Thanks -- do you know if the connector for the 660 will work for the 590? I don't think so, but...

I had a 2010 RT S and was in the same situation as you. What I did was buy the 2010 RT S and then I bought the BRP center GPS mount. The BRP mount came with the plug wire to plug into the spyders power.

I bought a Zumo 660 GPS from GPS City (USA it will be GPS City .Com) I then took the GPS 660 and the cradle and wiring harness that came with the zumo 660 to my dealer and he wired in the BRP plug and cradle to the spyder.

In your case here are the part numbers for your 2014 RT S fits Zumo 590 Part#219400615 . http://store.spyder.brp.com/product...stable_GPS_Mounting_Kit_(for_stock_handlebar)
Here is link to USA GPS City and Garmin 590 GPS http://www.gpscity.com/garmin-zumo-590lm.html

I found it a lot cheaper to do it this way. At the time I could not afford a Limited Rt. The RT S I purchased was a dealer demo.

Just saw this on spyder lovers see link discount for members you could get GPS mount here http://www.imotorsportsinc.com/--xstore

When connector, do you mean the mount the GPS sits in on the mount or the plug on the harness that connects to the Spyder wiring harness? If the former, they are different (660 is vertically oriented while 590 is horizontally oriented); if the latter, I don't know. The mount, I understand, comes with the wiring harness to connect to the Spyder wiring system.

Thanks folks -- just the info I was looking for. Seems like even if I DO go the route of the 660, I can get the new mount for the 590, redo the wiring and buy the 590, so all looks good.

Really appreciate it!

I was wondering if there was an easy way to move the wiring up to the dash so I could mount the 660 where I could see it without looking down. Would like to use JT's mount.
