2014 OIL LEAK.

Took the machine (as my wife & I like to call her) in because of an minor oil leak after a ride and the engine is good and hot After it sits a while it leeks 1 or 2 drops of oil. With cardboard under neath It appeared to be coming from the area of the dip stick.
I checked the stick frequently and it was right up to snuff. The other day I was out, stopped at a light and smoke poured out of the front for a few seconds. That was enough for me. In it went.
Just received a call from the shop telling me that a leak has been confirmed and that BRP has been notified and nothing can be done until they hear back from Big Momma. Sounds serious.
Anyone else out there having this adventure?
Also a little blurb in the local commie paper about Spyders catching fire and a big recall may be needed. HUH?

Depends..!

they did have a small leak due to a bolt on an engine cover but should have been taken care of. This may be a different issue. Let us know what they find out..there has been fire issues with some of the 2013's and they are looking into it. Will have to wait and see the outcome....:thumbup:

Oil leak

My 2014 RT had a oil leak from the git go. Turned out to be a small cover in the dip stick area. It did not have the required gasket.

I had the set screw oil leak. read some of my posts about it, BRP did the right thing and even flew a technician down to fix it.

Sounds exactly like my oil leak, sans the smoke. Dealer determined my leak was coming from the oil tank located on the back of the motor. Oil tank replaced (19 days in the shop) and within two weeks the leak returned. Opened case file with BRP. BRP going to investigate one of their fleet bikes with basically the same oil leak based on pictures of my leak sent to them via my dealer. They expect to complete their investigation by Labor Day. Once I return from Spyderquest I'm to call my contact at BRP to learn the way ahead on my Spyder.
