There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. 2014 Exhaust/Engine Sound..

VW diesel....NOT!!!

Having owned a 2006 VW Passat diesel and a 2011 Triumph Street Triple R plus years ago
A Yamaha 750 triple I think I may possibly be qualified to make a statement here!
No triple motorcycle engine I've ever come across sound like a conventional VW diesel.
The Triumph sounded incredible and revved to 14,000!! I had to get rid before it killed me!!

I don't know how clued up the guy was but there is a three cylinder VW diesel engine
which powers some smaller VW compacts but I don't know whether they're available in the 'States.

RE: Triumph Rocket III. I test sat a fire engine red one in 2010. I loved the sound of that engine. Just fanning the throttle made the Triumph want to lean over because of the engine torque. I am pretty wild and crazy sometimes, but I said to myself, "self, if you get this one, you will get into trouble."

Rocke IIIs Yeah

Yes I can vouch for the fact they do indeed rock. I had my 2010 R3T just a little over two years and even though the touring version was detuned (less peak horsepower for more low-end torque), it was still as blast to crank-on that throttle in fifth gear and just blow away from anything. Gas mileage was usually in the mid 30s. The most I got was 40 mpg once and that was really babying it. I could also get down to 30 mpg or less depending upon how much fun I was having. Mine had about 120 horsepower and about 150 lbs./ft of torque, hence I called it the "Beast".

Yamaha Triple

I had a 1980 Yamaha 850 triple. I really don't remember what it sounded like, but I know it was not objectionable. I'm sure it didn't sound like a diesel.

Yeah I also owned a 2006 Rocket III and the torque and horsepower was incredible. The stock sound was pretty good but after installing Jardines the sound was awesome.

If your judging it by sound i feel sorry for you

Don't know for sure if your post was directed at me or not, but since I am the OP... I'm not judging it, simply making an observation. I did say I'm waiting for local dealers to get a demo so I can take a test ride. BTW, thanks, but I don't need your sympathy!

Sound

touchy touchy aren't we?

Gotta hear that Motor

Different strokes for diff folks: I don't listen to radio's or CB's or whatever, not even in my car, but I do like to hear that motorcycle run. If I absolutely hated the way a motor sounded I wouldn't buy it. I can't say I'm crazy about the new '14, other than at idle, as its almost too quiet, but I may grow to like it as well as I did the 998. :) Or I can put an aftermarket muffler on.

Even Loud It'll Sound Different

Inline triples, sixes and V6s, even V12s have a similarity I think because of the number of cylinders are divisible by three. The crankshafts have 120 degree crankpin stagger so there's always that interval to the firing order. Inline twins and fours usually have 180 degree crankpins (old British twins had 360 degree cranks) while V8s can either be 180 or 90 degree crank intervals (flat plane or cross plane crankshafts). V-twins usually have a single crankpin although some run staggered cranks to run smoother. The inline triple will never no matter how loud sound like one of the others.

Definiteoly throatier than the Vee-Twin!
I'm diggin' it!

My self im byest tward the V- Twins and their sound so i would place the new ace's sound more like a german automobile using the three cylender engine, maybe not a deisel but a smooth and responsive new motor that should be verry enjoyable and torquie for the folks that like to enjoy their sound system and a smooth ride.
