• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2014 cat bypass-handbrake

Finished the cat bypass today and handbrake.

Was able to bend the bypass from one piece of 2”,sure makes a big difference
in and sound and performance.

Handbrake works well from a design I used once before, not really wild about
the master cylinder but hard to find a 22 mm or larger bore brake master cylinder.

Do have any plans on making some to sell? I'd be interested.

How is the sound? Slightly louder, much louder?

Secondly, how the heck did you get to the spring on top to remove/replace? If they are anything like the ones Rotax use
on their ultralight motors, they are one strong spring. I used to
use loktight pliers to get a grip on them, but obviously that won't work on that top spring due to limited space.

As far as sound its deeper( lower tone) I really don't know what to compare it to
but not loud. I had dual exhaust and Supertrapp mufflers on the last two Spyders
but I promise the wife I would not do that to this one as she could not stand the
noise.

As far as selling the bypass I'm not in that business Lamont make some good quality
Spyder's accessories and this is his livelihood, and this is just a hobby for me. I waiting
on his new highway pegs now.

As far as the Springs you're absolutely right on that one the hardest part of this whole bypass
was that one spring that hard to get too. I have a Band-Aid on my right thumb right now
because of it. I did use a long needle nose Loktight pliers one advantage I did have I was
standing up doing it.

Thanks for feefback on sound and spring; I figured that top spring would be a bear. Maybe someone at Spyderfest will be selling and installing them.

Guys, use a cotter pin extractor for those springs. Makes the work much easier.

Your handbrake is identical to mine.
Same master cylinder & same red slave cylinder.

Where did you get the slave cylinder from? What model is it & who made it?

I bought mine from someone on this board, so don't know its history.

This is my design from six years ago and the third prototype that really worked.

Everything is still available total cost of materials around $200.

I know others make handbrake kits for the Spyder this is my homegrown version
without the machine shop.

Always hard to tell from a video.

May also sound different w load on it like going down the road.

Sounds like there is a little bit of a raspy tone to it.
