2014 Can Am Spyder RTS Brake Squeal Solution

My breaks stated squealing 2 wks after I purchased my 2014 Can Am Spyder RTS. I took it back to the dealership where I purchased
it and they cleaned the rotors. The squealing sound started again a 1 week later.. I drove my spyder to the car wash and powsprayed the wheels . That solved the problem of brake dust.

Pop the calipers loose, pull the pads, and give them a bit of a bevelled leading-edge... :thumbup:

Buds 14 rts is having same issue. Im taxed with getting it resolved since dealership is saying it is normal. Would you have pics or instructions where to do the beveling?

tried this doesn't work spyders just do this especially when backing up

Try this..!!

clean disk with simple green real well. Then ryde in a safe area applying the brakes to regain grip. This gets rid of the brake dust build up causing this problem. I do not have this problem on our RS but have seen it done and was amazed...:thumbup:

I'm the "Bud" outlawsix is talking about. On mine... it's getting LOUD and now... at higher speeds. I'm going to try the powerwash and then the Simply Green but if that doesn't work.... I think I'll try replacing the pads.

Our 14 RTs is not bad and in regards to the squeaky brakes, not perfect, but fine.

One thing I noticed back in February after squeaky ride, I pulled the rear caliper off and found one of the mounts had been shimmed.

Finding right away when we got the machine, the rear belt tracked inboard, I took the time to properly align the belt. The squeak got worse.

The shim I found earlier, I did some research on. Never saw mention of it here on Spyderlovers AND it is not shown in the parts catalog.

The shim location was under one of the bolts securing the rear caliper, reference #11 in the image.

I removed it AFTER aligning the belt, and have had reasonably good results.

It is possible this shim may be mentioned in the maintenance manual.

Just an idea of something I did and seems to work.

Do they make ceramic pads for the RT?
Less build up of brake dust and fixed the issue on my 370Z.

Could also try some copper grease on the back sides of the pads.

Aren't ceramic pads a bit fussy about being warmed-up, befor they get serious about stopping? :dontknow:
