• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2014 BRP Back Rest

I have a question about the 2014 BRP Back Rest.
On the new seats there is a cover plate where the BRP Back Rest goes.
Obviously the plate is removed to attach the back rest.
My question is if you take the back rest off (wife's concerned about the loss of "her" space) are you able to snap the cover plate back into the hole on the seat.

Thanks for any input!

I believe you have to raise the seat and push a release on the bottom of the backrest shaft to get the backrest off. If that is correct, it can't be stolen unless they raise the seat. My new comfort seat and backrest are in but not installed yet and that is what I remember seeing.

This is correct you need to raise the seat to remove the backrest. When I had it put on I did not get a plate back from the dealer, when you remove the backrest this what looks like silicone material there to help prevent water from getting in

Just a warning I did buy the backrest with thoughts of keeping the stock seat. The little piece of plastic that is the cover is a pain to get out but putting it back in isnt much of an issue. I went with the Ultimate seat and backrest because I felt too far forward with the BRP backrest. The comfort seat is defiantly more comfortable but didn't want to spend the bucks on the and $449 on BRP's backrest so saved a ton of money with Ultimate seat and feel on the long rides it will be more comfortable.

Plastic Cover

Ok, well you got me to thinking so I went out to the garage and sure enough I did find the plastic piece that covers the hole once you take off the BRP Backrest. So I did try it a couple of times and the plastic piece goes in and comes out fairly easy. I would recommend though that those who live in very dry or very cold areas use a bit of vaseline on the places that the plastic piece snaps into. I can easily seem them become brittle in the dry or cold areas. Hope this helps.

It does help!
My main concern was once that plate was off the seat it was off for good.
Didn't want a nice little drain hole leading into the bowels of my Spyder!

Thanks everyone for your input! :D
