• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can anybody tell me if it is true that 2013 spyders are suffering from overheating. I am trying to buy one and I was told that 2013 are having problems with overheating.

SOME of them are...
Not all of the bikes seem to be affected to the same degree. BRP has come up with several fixes for the problem, and they seem to be helping an awful lot...
If you want to buy one; just make sure that the bike (If it's an ST or RT), has had all of the updates performed...

13 RT Limited and no real problem here.

go give it a test ride for 45 minutes or so and decide for yourself.

Some..!!

A few have had problems. There have been corrections made so all those later produced don't have that issue. Do remember they all have some heat if your not used to ryding any type of vehicle where you sit on top of a large internal combustion engine. As stated when pruchasing make sure all modifications have been done...

i got a 13 rt and after all the updates everthing is ok.but make sure you get a grate deal i got 5000 dollars off the list price, and some have gotten moore than that.all the dealers are trying to get reed of what they got left, because the 2014s with the 3 cylender engines are a big upgrade so most people want them.:chat:

I had the heat problem with my 2013 RT Ltd. Had the 2013-9 upgrade done several weeks ago. Have taken three long trips with the wife since then and there is a huge difference. Just make sure that it is done on the Spyder that you buy. Good Luck!!

VERY few of the 13s actually have an overheating problem. IE the engine runs hotter than it can cool itself or boils over. SOME have comfort and gas fume issues related to engine exhaust heat under the plastic engine covers. Ours did, and have been updated by BRP and myself. Comfort issues are gone. 90% of gas fume problems are gone.

I have seen more STs with acutal overheating problems than RTs.

I dove into a 2013 st. They were sharply discounted and I got a GREAT deal on a trade. So far the first 300 miles are good but I've only ridden in 70-80°F weather. As Jcthorne pointed out the bike usually isn't overheating itself it's people getting too much heat radiating off the machine causing issues

There are a lot of threads about the overheating of the 2013's. There have been some factory fixes for the problems. People are reporting success and some, not success.

Very good deals are out there on unsold new ones. They come with a full factory warranty, and are supposed to be updated before they are sold. Will you get a good one? Is it worth playing the roulette game to save some money? Only you can decide which is the best option for you. A competent service department should also be a part of the equation.

A long test drive on the one you wish to purchase is good advice.
