• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2013 rt won’t Start

Hey Guy. I have a 2013 rt limited. When I turn the key all the lights flicker and the comp screen continually flickers. Seems like a short or maybe a bad relay by the way the electronics malfunction. I can’t start it and nothing works. This happened a few weeks ago and I eventually got it to go back to normal by turning the key on and off till it went into a normal start sequence. Any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks for your help.

Update:
Just went out to the bike, it’s been @ an hour or 2 and it is totally normal again. That is good but I don’t want this happening again. What can it be?

I would check the connections to your Battery ..... If you don't have STAR washers on the terminals get two and put them on .... they will never loosen by themselves. If the terminals are tight get the battery load tested ...... Mike

:agree: And check the resting battery voltage BEFORE you try to start for the day; then watch what the voltage does as you turn it on & ultimately try to start the engine. If you can, get the battery load tested. What you've described could well be loose battery terminals; poor earth/ground connections somewhere; or a dead/dying battery. :dontknow:

I vote for shot battery. The electronics will do exactly as you describe when the battery voltage is less 10 volts. A battery will sometimes recover a little bit by doing what you did, but it does not fix it. Get a new battery before you're left out on the road miles from home. Search on replace battery to read many comments about what battery to get and how to make sure it's properly prepped for use.

I had a similar issue with my 2013 RT a few years ago. Ended up being one of the main relays would come loose do to vibration. So I ended up placing a piece of hard packing material cut to size on the back of the relay. Once the fuse box cover was back on it would apply pressure and keep the relay in place and stop it from vibrating loose. All has been good since and I did change the battery at same time.
