2013 RT Sway Bars....

There's always time for nap time!

You just might need to come up with a new excuse for them; that's all!

I just ride longer so I can enjoy my nap!

We managed a 350 mile hop yesterday...
The RT was tired, so I put it to bed a bit early, and then decided that I should check my eyelids for pinholes also...

Seems to me from what I have read- Its going to be a bear to install unless you have a substancial Lifting mechanism(?).
I,m glad I got the 2012!
Brp Just keeps making it "Harder and Harder " to do your own service and mods on these things? :banghead:

Install the bar! It will do what you want it to do. That was my purpose in installing it, and I am pleased with the results. There is an additional side benefit of less reaction to the buffeting from semis and gusty winds. There is one drawback...it makes you a lazier rider, since you don't have to work as hard in the corners.

A testimonial from a knowledgeable source. That's all I need.

Testimony from a 2013 (yes, 2013) BajaRon Anti-Sway Bar Tester

Yes, I am one of the testers. I wanted to make sure that Ron had the data he wanted before I published my results and opinion. Again: This is only to IMPROVE the swaying, not fix it! I liked the OEM Anti-sway bar, but this makes an improvement.

I had Ron ship the bar(s) to Harvey since we could take pics and help Ron with the install diagram. I'll let Harvey fill in the blanks on the install, but the issue we ran into was getting the old bar out/placing new one in. It seems that leaving the Spyder on towers was not giving much clearance, and the ATV lift was not much help either. So Harvey ended up lifting the Spyder using an ATV lift on BOTH front tires (strapped down the tires to the lifts). Oviously, not ALL average Joe with tools and somewhat mechanical experience would have 2 ATV lifts, so he's working on that. However, as I told him, there will be a few 2013's asking for a sway bar in Maggie Valley/ Lamont's BBQ, so the usage to install sway bars on '13's will not be a mayor issue.

Harvey took me out on his "test track" I could tell right away leaving Harvey's house because the Nanny started responding on the tight curves. Once I started getting the hang of it, it felt very stable. The best part, which is the reason why I wanted to be a tester, was that at high winds, the Spyder was handling a lot more stable than with the original bar: with the original bar it felt like someone was tugging me from boths sides of the Spyder, now it feels smoother. The baseline comparison came when we started heading home (coming 2 up with my Mother in Law in the back :yikes:): coming into I-40 to Memphis has ALWAYS caught me with high winds... this time it felt more stable. The 2010 did not have that issue. The 2013 with the original bar felt that it was more sensitive with high winds... particularly passing big rigs. Now I feel it more stable... but now I need to go to long sleeve t-shirts since mesh jackets just make me feel like it is giving me a backdraft!;)

Took another run last weekend. 260 miles. Love it!!! Need no more to say.
Ran 140 miles today. Same response! I actually took it to an abandoned mall nearby and practice sharp turns without braking... GREAT RESPONSE at 35 mph doing 90 degree sharp turns!

So in conclusion: it passed MY test.:2thumbs:

Hope this helps to anyone who is making a decision...

That makes two qualified testimonials for me.

so, does the 2013 RT Limited sway bar require special tools and a special lift to change out from the OEM bar? Does the newly installed bumpskid have to be removed to install it?

No special tools, just the radiator covers on both sides need to be removed or loosend and that is it. Harvey is working on the instructions, but I believe he will be able to install them in MV for the ones who can make it. As far as the lift:

2013 RT Sway Bars Are IN Stock!

I shipped a few 2013 RT Custom Performance Sway Bars today. They are in stock and ready to go.

The install instructions are not as good as they could be but I believe that they will be more than adequate for most. After all, I installed them with no instructions at all as did some of my Test Pilots! :yikes:

Since I do not have a 2013 RT readily available to me I would greatly appreciate any feedback from Spyderlover's who install the new 2013 RT bar. This will go a long way towards helping me refine the Install Instructions making them better for the next person. There is always a better way!

The 2013's are quite a bit different in how the Sway Bar is mounted. In some ways the install is actually easier than the previous RT's and in other ways a bit more difficult. For the 2013's there is no need to detach any of the Tupperware. You don't need to detach the Frunk or move the Frunk out of the way, nor do you need to remove the front skid pan. These is plenty of room to work on the 2013's and the components that need to be accessed for this install are fairly easy to get to. The biggest hurdle being to raise the front of the Spyder enough to remove the sway bar from the frame tube once you unbolt it from the bushings. You will need to lift the front of the Spyder about 18", or lower the area below the Spyder to get the needed clearance below the bottom of the frame tube where the Sway Bar resides.

Each of my Test Pilots have used different methods including table lifts, car ramps, floor jacks, ATV jacks, scissor jacks and jack stands to accomplish this.

I want to thank all of my Test Pilots, including my first Female Test Pilot (why didn't I think of this sooner?!), for all of their hard work and input. I am still getting helpful feedback from them and I couldn't do this without them.

If you want to order a bar it's best to email me at [email protected] You can also PM me here at Spyderlover's but email works best.

Price for the 2013 RT Sway Bar Kit is $219 delivered to the 48 US States. Shipping outside the US varies by destination and method of shipment requested. You can email or PM me for a shipping quote.

I have been getting some very positive feedback from the few who have installed and had a chance to ride the 2013 RT Custom Sway Bar. If Maggie Valley dries out a little, those that have had the 2013 bar installed by SpyderPops should be able to give them a great workout on some of the roads in the area.

See you at the BBQ! :ohyea:

Ron

I did today and the new bar works great, much more control and stability, very happy that i was one of the testers.

Like mikey said, try it you'll like it

Glad you like the bar. The roads there near the Owner's Event are some of the best in the world for riding the Bar. Thanks for the help in the R&D phase.

Now it's on to the 2013 ST/RS project...

Hi Ron!
I've had a fellow ask me (In another place on the internet!) about how he could get his hands on one of your bars...
I'm directing him over here; do you have a phone number that perhaps should be out there for orders too? :dontknow:

Sorry I missed you at the BBQ...

I tested it again on the Rattler (Hwy 209 towards Hot Spring, NC), Blue Ridge Parkway and on the way to Lamont's via the Dragon and Cherokee Foothill Parkway (reason why we got late to the BBQ :banghead:). I have to say that my wife was yelling at me that I was going too fast but HEY... I felt in control and knew that the:spyder2: was responding the way I wanted it to.

Again, worth the investment if you are an agressive rYder!

Worth the extra control even if you are not an aggressive driver.

:agree: you never know when you need to get out of way of some fool texting, eating a sandwich, watching a video, changing their facebook status, putting on make up and having an argument with their spouse at the same time.... or fly around that sofa that just fell off of the truck in front.

True... but at these types of emergency manuvers, it doesn't matter if you have the OEM or BajaRon bar... just good reflexes!
