• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. This is my first post I bought a leftover 2013 rss trailered it home and man im glad I did unloaded it from the trailer started it check engine light on vss light on limp home mode code I think was 1614 had something to do with throttle. It only has 2 miles on it call dealer 100 miles away took a week for them to pickup now still there 2 weeks and 16000 bucks later i still have not ridden it. I have a feeling they will give me a hard time about trailering it back to my home so now I will need to blow a day off work and rent a truck and trailer again because I wont trust driving this anywhere far from home def not 100 miles. It sucks and just my rant because im not a happy camper.

Sucking lemons

That leaves a very bitter taste in your mouth, hope you get it sorted and it brings a few smiles to your face.

First guess - discharged battery. Makes for a pretty unhappy spyder. Hope it all gets figured out to your satisfaction and you can put this hiccup behind you!!

That sucks, man sorry but I don't think I'd call it a lemon yet. Most dealers have transport trailers and trucks so Id be on the phone telling them that needs to happen but only after them road testing pretty extensively to make sure its right for ya. Should of been right from the start and not after you got it home and went on the first ride. :banghead:

Good luck

People are really quick to call things lemons on here. One problem on a bike that is basically new isn't a lemon. Most likely, as said above, a battery problem from sitting. Let them fix it.

Thought battery too pluged it in to my charger went to maintance charge within an hour dealer said they charged it and they did. The one thing that was aparent was when started you could crank the throttle all you wanted and it was dead still idled though now before you ask it started and ran no problems when i picked it up. Letting them fix it is not the problem( I just hate the fact i just spent all this money and it needs repaired) the money this is costing me is, it is 2 weeks now and i have not even put the temp tag on it plus the fact I may have to go get it before it is allover with I will have another $1000 into it.

Bummer..!!

know that there is little we can say to make it right. It happened and it leaves a mark. I do hope they get it sorted out and you do get to enjoy it the way it should be. This is the place for help and assistance and therefore makes it seem like there are nothing but problems but not so. These are the very few. Sorry your here for that reason...:gaah:

When I went to pick up my 2014 RTL they had just finished assembling it
had to wait for tech to put 30 miles on the bike to make sure everything was working correctly
Dealer said this is what BRP wants them to do
Everything was fine and I rode it 250 happy miles home
Have not had ant problems in 6000 miles

:agree: Hopefully just needs a good charge, then all the systems will not freak out.

Too bad not checked better...as you said...a left over 2013...may have sat around awhile and battery weakened.

Maybe the nanny got upset loading on the trailer. Sometimes you can take the key out and wait a couple of minutes and try again and it might reset. I've had strange things happen just after having mine on a jack.

Good Luck

Sorry to hear about your issues with the new :spyder2:. The RS is one that we do not hear much about when it comes to problem issues.

I see a red flag that the dealer did not do a very good set up and prep. The new :spyder2: should have been test ridden and should not have popped up codes on you from the start.

Sounds like they did the paperwork and loaded it up without doing much mechanical.

Battery is probably a good place to start. Give it a full charge and see if that helps. Another item the dealer should have done.

A second red flag is the slow pick up time and the dragged out repair time. They should be bending over backwards to make their new customer happy.

Please keep us informed.

Ok this is what my dealer called and told me was the issue he said it is fixed and running again they are delivering it today. Now how did it leave the dealership without this update the sevice manager even said the same thing he said someone will get an arse chewing over this because the predelivery check list was all checked off. I am still lost at how this made my throttle not work throttle was dead but bike would still start and idle i am hoping it solved all issues and I can get on the road and put this issue in the pasture.

Did they tell ya anything else they did??? I have not had that up-date done or had the covers replaced, I have had no warning lights come on. Did they say there had been any moisture in the fuse boxes??

The first thing you should do is get a battery tender and keep the battery full charge when the Spyder is not being used. The Spyder is a high tec. machine with a lot computers on board. This is what I used for the last 3 years. http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tende...qid=1403776600&sr=8-2&keywords=Battery+tender

Mike

I am now keeping it on a charger I have the one by auto meter its called a battery extender I bet made by the same company conections are the same the place where I bought it put the batt tender quick connect on it they said they do this on all the things they sell. The battery is charging fast and the light goes green to show its in maintance charge.
