I am trying to decide if the 2014 rts is worth the 5000 to 6000 more than a left over 2013.I also am trying to decide if 4000 or 5000 difference between a leftover 2013 and a 2011 with 9300 miles is worth the extra cost.
I agree! If you can afford it then without hesitation go for the 2014, just my humble opinion.
Prices I have been getting are 26500 for a 14 RTS and 22000 for a 13. And 17000 for a 2011. 9500 between the 2014 and the 2011 is a big difference.IMO only consider the '14....look for a better "deal". What I have seen/heard is $2-3k difference in price as long as you are comparing "apples to apples". Enjoy the shopping..drive them both. Buy what is best for YOU.

If it was me I would go with the 2014 RTS. The 2013 will have a poor resale value, had problems, and the 2014 you can get a free 3 year extended warranty. Getting a used one with no warranty is a big risk when most dealers get $100.00 to $150.00 per hour to work on them and if it heeds parts can cost big $$$$. That's IMHO.

That's not completely accurate... :shocked:The main difference between the 2013 and 2014 is just the engine. The 2014 has more displacement, but overall, it is not a huge HP increase. Do some research, read the online reviews and you'll see what I'm talking about. The chassis, Brembo brakes and 17" wheels are the same. The 2013 heat issues were sporatic. If you can find one without them, then I think it is a better buy for the money that can be saved.

Along with the triple; you get the new 6-speed transmission with the hydraulic clutch lockup system. Smoother shifting, and NO worries about not spinning the old centrifugal system fast enough to keep the clutch plates happy...
You also get the revised cooling sytem: TWIN radiators that reverse their rotation, and blow hot air away from you in low speed situations...
AND the charging system... A 1200 watt alternator versus the old 650 watt magneto.
The triple's powerband is just so much wider; I'm upshifting at no more than 2,500 rpm all of the time; with the 998, I had to wait to 5,000 rpm.
Make the choice that's right for you... But the new setup is pretty darn sweet!![]()
