• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. 2013 New Belt Tension

Was browsing my shop manual cd and found this in the bulletins section and did not know that the 2013 has a different belt tension than earlier model more than twice as much :sour:

Wow that's tight! I guess the upgraded the drive shaft and other parts to allow this higher tension. I know they lowered the tension on previous years due to some issues with parts in the driveshaft failing.

So if you have bearing or drive shaft or belt failure and the tension was set wrong by your service dept. you would have a case for in accurate service procedures? I guess from now on if you have your machine serviced it should state on your bill what the belt tension was set at, what the tire pressure actually is, and other statements that now say set to factory specs. disconcerting to say the least.

Sounds like they are going back towards the original, higher tension. This will probably reduce belt vibration that many complain about on the pre-2013 models. They must have beefed up the output shaft and rear axle bearings quite a bit to accomplish this.

Other than possible belt vibration reduction I don't see any advantage since I've never heard of any belts jumping teeth at the lower setting.
