There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2012 Top Case Leaking?

Granted, I live in the Seattle area, so rain is pretty much normal.

However, I've noticed that after a heavy rain, there seems to be a lot of drops and moisture in my 2012 RT's top case. I'm a bit worried since the XM radio and the iPod mounts are in the top case as well, and moisture + electronics = mess.

I'm trying to figure out if this is a leak, or condensation from humidity. In either case, does anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy the issue?

Based on mentioning the electronics, I am assuming you mean back truck or simply "trunk"

Make sure the top inside of the lid is installed correctly. That is what creates the seal to the lower inside portion. You can tell around the edges it has a rubber linner, make sure that is intact. Finally, make sure that you are closing the lid TIGHT... sometimes it can fool you and you have to tap it to make a secure close. I always make a good SLAM and tap it with my palm just by the edge of the lid, right on top of the key barrel.

Hope that helps.

I think he's referring to the glove box on top of the gas tank. If that's the case, I'd try some small, soft automotive seal around the entire lip.

Seems to me..!!

you have a weatherstrpping problem. All compartments are water tight. I would check the seal...

Either a problem with the weatherstrip...or an adjustment problem so the wetherstip is not contacted or is contacted unevenly. If the OP is talking about the glove box, I'd worry more about how the heat is affecting the electronics. If it is a rear trunk problem, it should be able to be addressed.

Nope, the top case at the rear of the RT, behind the passenger seat and above the saddlebags. (or rear trunk, as I've also heard it called)

I don't see water in my top box, even after a heavy rain. Definitely sounds like a weatherstripping issue to me.

Weatherstripping problem, trunk adjustment issue, or something blocking the rain channel. Could be a combination. Also look for something spilled in the bottom, and the water up top is from evaporation/condensation. Could also be droplets that drip from the lid into the trunk when the lid is opened in wet weather.

His rear trunk is just sad because it rains there all the time. :joke::D

Not all the time. The rainy season normally only runs between January 1st and December 31st. :D

Stripped out everything in the rear trunk except the iPod mount, and dried it completely. Going to see if I get leakage. if so, well, I'm coming up on my 5,000 checkup anyway.

So after a month of keeping EVERYTHING out of that case, it's pretty much a confirmed leak. What's annoying is when it freezes and I get to clean the slush out of it.

My RT-S is due for it's 5000 mile checkup soon, so I'll have the address the leaking at that time. Also may have to look into aftermarket weather stripping.
