• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2012 RTS Overheating Issue

Hi, Just looking for a few opinions on this. I was riding today, one of the first times this year. I was stopped in traffic and my temp gauge suddenly shot up to an overheating reading. The computer went into limp mode. Pulled out in traffic and the warning went away. The bike cooled down and limp mode disappeared. It happened twice. But in between the two incidents I was stopped and everything was fine. I checked the coolant level when I got home. It so damned hard to see in there but it was fine. 2012 RTS so its the 900. What do you think?

If the temp reading on the Spyder it will throw a code. I do not know at what temp. Does your fan kick on when at a stop? Radiator plugged up with debri? Water pump could be bad. Bruce

Fan is working and the radiator clean.

I read #2 & #3, the 2012 RT could run HOT, however it wasn't an issue unless something else was bad .... the 2013 Spyders had over-heating issues because BRP had to put the V-twin into the NEW 1330 frame .... BRP designed a cure that involved TWO inlet scoops wher the upper grills are located..... IMHO your radiator fluid should still be able to cope with the heat ... My 14 RT has the orig. fluid from when I purchased it ..... it is possible the water pump is not working ..... keep us informed .... Mike

When was last flush?

FYI maybe-maybe not responsible for killing pump impeller :dontknow: . Did easily go a year over the two year recommendation. Did hold out for 70k miles can easily DIY the thermostat

Suggest change the hose clamps to worm gear type (for future maintenance) While it’s off should be able to push on diaphragm to test if its stuck. Also suggest draining from bottom hose & not the froglets drain plus on radiator. Too many reported breaking, be careful to not mix antifreeze colors :lecturef_smilie:
