• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2012 RT

I got my 2011 RTSM5 Aug20,2011. Almost 36,000 miles of smiles. Few relatively small matters along the way, but never missed or cancelled a ride for any reason.
Lots of folks have bad great experiences with their Spyders. The nature of a forum like this is that you normally get all the bad stuff and little of the good. I have done my share of negative remarks, but try to inject the overall satisfaction in most posts.
Have a good one and hope to see y'all on the road sometime

I'm glad ya'll are having good luck with your '12s, but quite frankly, after the first couple weeks and the ball joint replacement, I am having the same kind of experience with my '13 RT! I don't have alignment problems. She doesn't overheat or throw codes. I don't tend to boil gas. I have enuf power and get 30mpg. She is plenty capable in the curves, tho I admit to being a touring rider and not a performance guy. I wouldn't mind if BRP came up with an idea to throw a little of the right foot heat somewhere else, but I don't get 3rd degree burns! So far, she is fun and reliable. I hope BRP comes up with some solutions so NOT all the '13s get hosed in the marketplace, i.e. trade-in or resale. I look forward to improvements from BRP in both the machine and dealer network.

Here's hoping,

Loren

Don't qualify..!!

we have an 2012 RS sm5 and now have 11,000+ wrinkle free miles on it. We are a minority here but the base is the same. We have a lot less to go wrong on these roadsters until we farkel beyond their limits...!! :roflblack:

'12 RT-S SM5 Owner

When I bought my new 2012 RT s, I wondered if I made a Mistake by not buying a 2013.
After reading about the problems some are having with 2013's I am glad I choose to buy the 2012. I couldn't be more pleased with my Spyder. It is a very fine machine. I have enjoyed it more than any vehicle I have owned. I ride it as much as I can when I can. Thank you BRP. For a wonderful machine.

After 3 very good years on a "09 GS SM5 with no problems, and following the initial RT issues, in March 2012 it was time to purchase a Mag '12 RT-S SM5 with CB, and a trailer hitch for our Bushtec. Installed Elka ft. shocks , J & M Headsets. we were off and running. This was the second best decision we made. The first being the '09 GS, which we still have. Trouble free touring for 18 months on the RT-S. We are keeping it till BRP comes up with better model, which may be a long time at there current pace. Very happy with the '12:clap:

Interesting Thread..and now a question

I'm ready to buy and I want either a 2012 LTD or a 2013 LTD. With all of the sales going on now the price difference on a new one is roughly +1400 more for the 2013.

Are the new features like the floorboards, brakes, etc on the 2013 worth it given some of the reliability concerns or is it best to go 2012 and throw on some floorboards with the diff or push through on the 2013?

2011 RT-S here and very happy so far but I only have 2000 miles on it. I bought it used this year in June with only 450 miles on it so it basically was new. I believe the 2011 and 2012 did not have many differences from my reading here on SL.

They change from Orbit, to Quantum Blue for 2012, and the extra year's worth of devlopement on the throttle bodies seems to have mead them a bit more reliable...
