• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2012 RT Limited Shutting Down

My Rt s Limited has done this to me twice. Once after a 20 minute ride idling at a stop light. Once while idling in my driveway after afew minutes. Dealer checked for codes but found none.
If it is a bad plug wire or a similar issue, it will not leave a code. Neither will a plugged fuel filter, for instance. Too darned many "technicians" think the computer will tell them everything. The best techs are also good "mechanics". Keep leaning on your dealer to make this right...or find another dealer.

Update on Shutting Down

So far so good. On third tank and about 170 miles. No shutdown. Unfortunately, I've gone mod insane. All chrome, lights, highway pegs, and finally 3M paint protection film all over the front and sides. I am in with heavy bucks, my pool didn't cost this much. Looking forward to Cuba.:banghead::bbq::yikes::shemademe_smilie:

Stalling

I will ride another couple of weeks (hard to find the time) and post my results. I also suspect no change, but am willing to try. Really like this bike and hope to get it running right soon.

Did you buy it locallly? I got mine from Freedom in Kennesaw and the mx is real good there. BUT, I understand the mx honcho in Lawrenceville, the third Freedom Dealer, is really an ace with the Spyder. I've had no stalling, but a couple "orange messages" from my grandmother and might take it over there for his opinions. I don't like the classic "they all do that" answer. And of course, the shoulder shrug is not something that instills confidence either. Most of my mx abnormalities on the Spyder have been self induced - hate it when that happens. We haven't eaten in 3 weeks as a result of my latest fiasco, but that's another story. Thinking about selling all my tools so I can't create another mx adventure.

Mine started doing the same thing this winter (4K on the bike). I dropped by my dealer and they will do a diagnostic. funny thing is, the day I took it to the dealer it did not do it. I let it idle about 15 mins and it was rock steady. I wonder if condensation in the tank could be the problem?

Bought mine at the Lawrenceville site. Great guys - Josh knows the spyder well. No other shutdowns so far, will keep going. Hope to see everyone in Cuba MO in April.

RT Shutting down

Bought mine in Lawrenceville. Bo and Josh run the service shop and they are great. So far so good, no shutdowns. Hope to see everyone in Cuba MO - April 2012.

Mine started in the last few months when it got colder out (may have nothing to do with it). It will stall repeatedly when idling after a cold start and I am sure the is way down as well. It runs better after it warms up but I can feel the odd miss when cruise control is locked on. The dealer is preparing to check it over but I suspect they will have a hard time if it is something not throughing a code.

Just got my 2011 RTS SE5 only 65 miloes on it and I am having the stalling problem too. Seems to happen when I come to a complete stop at a traffic light. Starts right up again but I sure hope it is the coating in the gas tank like some have said. My RS never did that.

Has happened to me four times, three at low idle leaving a parking lot at slow speed, it just shut down. P
ulled over turned the key off, started right up and off I went. Then today I was letting it warm up while I locked up the house and closed the garage door{about 5 minutes} and it shut down. I started it up and it idled rough at first and then it smooth out and rode ok the rest of the day.
I have 485 miles on it now so the first of next week I be taking it in for the 600 mile service and they will have a few things to check out. That DPS failure from last week end too.

Maybe ??

I know the new batteries have been a problem, not holding the charge up properly and killing the bike, charge the hell out of it before you ride again. Also the throttle bodies have been a source of problems and they have been recalled, but they have been showing codes. Battery is the best guess.

Update on Shutting Down Saga

Past my third tank of gas and at 300 miles on the odometer. Shuts down occassionally when ideling but turns back on. Will take it back to the Lawrenceville, GA dealership when I return from Spyderfest. Should have over 600 miles on it by then and ready for the first scheduled maintenance. Will have them check the throttle body.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Cuba.
