• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I am buying a rt-s in a few weeks the 2012 is about $4,000 cheeper. is the 2013 worth$4,000 more? both are new thanks in advance

There seem to be some improvements in the 2013, but from what I'm reading, the 2013's are almost a reboot and are having some handling issues similar to when the 2010's first came out.
By 2012, the issues had been hammered out.
I'd pick up the 2012, or wait until the 2014 is out.

As always, my free advice comes with a double your money back guarantee.

I,d get the 2012 (Like I did at a Great Buy) Put The Sway Bar for $200 and if thats Not enough add the Elka,s for about $600 and you really should be All Set. IMHO

I'd go with the 2012 if you need to buy right now. If you can wait a few months all of the issues will be gone and then I'd go with the 2013. The new stronger frame, better handleing, larger wheels and fender setup are factors but keep in mind that the $4,000 difference is for a one year older model, still new of course but one year older. Of course not all of the 2013's are having issues so you could be lucky. I have a 2012, bought last July and I am 100% happy with my choice and not sorry.

My vote would also be for the 2012. I am adopting a wait and see what happens with the 2013's. $4000 savings is also a great incentive on a "known" commodity.

:agree: with ALL of the above PLUS you could buy a 622 trailer with that $4000! :yikes: :doorag: Just saying........

We traded in our 2011 RS this past weekend and decided on the 2012 RT-S. Dealers mark off different amounts from 3500 to over 6K. We were happy with our savings on the 2012 and will add the sway bar that is mentioned here. The first 90 miles is making me wonder though if we should have kept our RS. The RS is so much more responsive and quick. The RT-S much more comfortable for the long rides. Once we get the suspension fixed on our RT-S we should be happy again.

I Had similar regrets with the purchase of our RT-S. It felt like a wobbling slug. Once the engine broke in and I got the suspension dialed in, it was a different beast. It'll be a screaming banshee with Baja Ron's sway bar and a nice set of shocks, if I ever get there and mine was the "problematic" 2010, which has been no trouble.

I'm with the others. Not that I'm waiting to buy a 2013, because I'm not. Just waiting to see how they really turn out once BRP gets a few things worked out and owners get them dialed in.

Joe's right; it's got to be your call...
So what is more important to you: the money, or the improvements to the bikes? :dontknow:
Good Luck Shopping, and we can't wait to see what decision you make!

:agree: with the "your call" folks............test drive them both and make the call.:2thumbs: If you are going touring, the extra money you save on the 2012 :spyder:will get you the RT622 trailer as someone else already said. Have fun shopping!

When I was researching which Spyder to purchase, I did a lot of thinking as to which year (2012 or 2013) to buy. To me, I knew if I purchased a 2012 RT I was going to have to add floor boards, Ron's sway bar, and new shocks on top of the other farkles that I am adding. By the time I added up those costs, I was pretty close to the cost of a 2013 and I get floor boards, and according to Lamont, a greatly improved suspension.

I'm pretty confident that BRP is going to fix the steering problems that have been occurring with the 2013's. We just got to give them some time and with snow still on the ground where I live, I can wait.

Of course, only you can make the decision as to which year to buy. I'm very happy with the decision I made.

Tony

On the record 2012 are results of all :spyder2:that are bug free. 2013 have still bugs, read all the forum issues and make the right decision. Good luck and:congrats::welcome:.

2112 vs 213 RT. Limited

I was looking also at the 2012 RT. but after putting factory running boards on the 2012 i was just $2000.00 away from a 2013. I also have not had and problems with the steering issue
