• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2011 Spyder not starting - HELP?

My 2011 CanAm Spyder had a tender on it, but when trying to start it after about three weeks all the gauges went crazy back and forth up AND DOWN HELP BATTERY AT 13 1/2 VOLTS .

How old is that battery electricman?? And what voltage does the battery show WHILE you are actually trying to crank it over/while the gauges are going berserk?? :dontknow:

With 13.5 volts showing, it could just be a surface charge & not an actual reflection of the battery's charge/capacity. From what you describe, it sounds a lot like the battery has at least one dead cell &/or there's a dodgy earth somewhere; or the starter/start solenoid is not in good condition so that the voltage is being sucked down waaayy too low whenever you try to start. That 'gauges going crazy' thing is a fairly good sign of low voltage to the cluster/poor battery condition... :banghead:

If you don't have a multimeter to check the voltage while actually cranking as suggested above, then it might be a good idea to get the battery load tested. If the battery is anything more than about 3 years old & has been on a battery tender for most of its life, then it's probably a good idea to do that anyway! Battery tenders are good for batteries during lay-over periods; not so good for batteries long term; and if it's a trickle charger & not a battery tender/conditioner, then they're not good at all to leave connected all the time instead of simply when actually recharging a low voltage battery - leave one of those on too long/too much & you'll eventually kill the battery! Your best bet to keep your battery in good condition is to ryde the Spyder for at least an hour or more once every week or so whenever you can! :ohyea:

If you have a volt meter installed on your bike, watch the volts as you are cranking it. If it drops below 10v's, the battery needs to be replaced.
