• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2011 SE-5 RS-S shifting issue

Hello all,
My bike seems to have developed an issue over the winter. I start it up, let it get a bar of "heat", then take off. The initial shift into 1st gear is flawless, same for 2nd. Come to a stop and then take off again, go to shift into 2nd and it bounces the rpms up, acts like its going to 2nd, goes right into 1st again. Repeats...a lot. I have it scheduled to go in on the 18th of this month for the 12k valve adjustment and a tune-up. Is there a name i can give to this hiccup to have them look for while its there?

Have you checked the oil level? The 998 SE5's can be picky about their oil level. Some have had shifting issues when the oil level isnt in the top 1/3 of the upper hash mark on the full side.

Agree...

Start with the oil condition and level. Check the linkage on the shift shaft and make sure you are making positive shifts not soft taps....Just to let you know the valve adjustment mileage has been changed to 14,000 miles by brp and many still don't need any adjustment then.

I will check the oil today. I might be soft tapping the lever too. 14k on the valve adjustment? awesome. that's a thousand bucks i dont have to spend this month. :)

Had to replace the paddle shifter assembly on my 2011 RS-S SE5 around 25000 miles. Might be the same issue?
