There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2011 RTs Parking brake won't release!

I have a 2011 RTs. Went to get it out of the garage today and the parking brake will not release. the trunk opens fine and the switch does feel different when trying to release the brake versus opening the truck but wanted to see if anyone has had any issue's before I dive into this??
I have had a very occasional issue with what I think is the switch sticking, it is very intermittent and has only done this when it has sat for days. In the past if I rock the switch back and open the trunk, the brake has always released, like the switch sticks?
Any ideas?

thanks
Jeff

Pull the right side inspection panel (just like the oil panel) and see if the cable has come off the pulley. Those switches have points in them and they can stick.

Little checking..!!

do you hear the brake motor running when you hit the switch..?? If you do then you need to check the cables. If you hear nothing you are right it is the switch. You can release the cable at the rear wheel brake caliper to get it moved about. You can spray some WD-40 in the switch and toggle it then some compressed air..

Thanks to all for the suggestions.

Cables seem to be fine and I do not hear the motor run at all when the switch is depressed. I'm confident at this point the switch has failed. Do any of you know the best way to get the switch out? Haven't had much time to play with it yet but did remove the upper left side panel. It appears that the right side may need to be removed also to allow removal of the lower plastic of the console?? Will that give me access to the bottom of the switch?

Thanks again
Jeff

brake release

I had the exact same problem the other day, reseated all the fuses both under the seat and in the front storage which seemed to solve the problem...at least for now. I couldn't figure out which fuse controls the brake switch. I wish the owners manual was a bit better.

:firstplace: When electrical items do not function the first step is to check, reseat and/or clean the fuse contacts and relays. It is well known they vibrate loose.

Same thing

Had the exact same issue with my 2012 RT limited, but only after it sits for bout a week or so. kind of strange

I think more likely a relay going bad, I will try to look up which one or a relay not seated, what code are you getting. I checked fuse #3, 25 amp and main relay 2 or 1 ,I would exchange main relay 2 or 1 with other with the same part # in the front relay box and see if any change
