• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

hey guys today I took the bike out for a ride around the block, it will not shift out of first gear. Reverse works neutral and I can get it into first but it wont go into second or higher gears. Oil is good, called dealer he says it is the shift solenoid....If I cant get it fixed here I will have to tow it...bad way to start of the year...again it is a se5 and thoughts thanks a bunch

Loose screw

Check to make sure your shift paddle is secure. Someone else had that problem and it turned out to be a loose screw on the shift paddle. tighten it and all was good.

Sometimes jiggle the clutch cable works-- back before I got my shifter replaced, the cable was a little loose, it would only shift if I "pushed" the cable into the housing.

Hey guys I will check out the bike today, I know the oil is good it just had an oil change before i put it to rest for the winter. And the block I live on is very long I could easily get the bike up to 3rd gear if it were not for all the kids around lol. Im guessing shift solenoid but I will look at the other issues today thanks so much

I am glad I was able to help. I read it on another thead and thought I would pass it along. That is what this forum is all about helping each other.

Had the same problem, the dealer checked the solenoid and it tested fine on the bench, but when on the spyder it did not work. They changed out the solenoid anyway, and everything worked. I have had 10k trouble free miles since then. I have a 2010 RTS. Good luck.

All I have to say is THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! and yes this is a great site. If I didn't ask for help I would of had to have the Spyder towed to the dealer:banghead::banghead:, that would be a 4 hour process. Then drive to the dealer explain to them about being careful of the very expensive custom wrap before doing any work. Come home worry about them damaging my bike again(they spilled break fluid on a few parts and had to have them replaced)then when fixed find some one to drive me to dealer pick up bike. This is quite the group of people on here, I think Spyderlovers should run for Government we could fix ANYTHING:ohyea::ohyea:
