2011 RT-S SE5 Side Cargo Saddle Bag Question***

I am about to pick up a 2011 RT-S SE5 and have a $500 coupon to use towards any accessories for the RT-S. The wife has already decided on the front cargo travel bag. My question is that she is really wanting the rear side cargo bags for the RT-S but is undecided on which ones to get. There is either the soft or semi-rigid bags. My question is are the semi-rigid bags worth the $, or is she better of getting the soft sided ones and use the extra $ for something else? Looking for any suggestions and opinions on either one.
Thanks,
Shane

We are picking her RT-S up tomorrow, so gotta decide by today which bag to get.

I also got the 500 bucks and my wife looked at them and decided, dealer had them there.

She bought the Semi hard front suitcase, the soft bags for the sides, Glove compartment organizer.:shemademe_smilie:

I should get the Spyder on Tuesday then I can tell you more about them.
:2excited:

Thanks, our is being pit togeher right now and will ne signing the paperwork and taking it tomorrow. I like the semi rigid side bags, just don't know if its worth the extra $ is the soft sided ones will work. And use the extra $ for other stuff.

We use soft side bag inserts. I prefer them. Using the ones from a BMW, but they fit and work well. You can pack more in them than the rigid ones, but I'm not sure that applies to the BRP soft bags.

Ours is together, but I also ordered the fog lights, and they get them tomorrow, with the Canadian long weekend, I'll get it Tuesday.

Based on the treads on handling on all spyder forums I test drove it this week when the dealer had it together, and I had the dealer up the tire pressure front to 18 and rear to 28psi, and increased each shock/spring by 1 notch took it for a ride and it felt stable.

You may ask the dealer to do the same.

I have the hard bag inserts and I don't see why they would be any better than a soft bag. :dontknow:

I have the complete set of semi rigid travel cases that came with our RT Limited. Looks like good quality but not worth the price. Not sure if I will ever use mine since we have the RT-622 trailer. Probably would be good for a day trip.

I have the semi rigid side bags.

The one on the battery side is only about half the depth of the box which is a waste of space.

I would buy the soft ones if doing again.

I scored the Front semi rigid wheeled suitcase off of e-bay. I love it, but it's not worth MSRP.
As to the side bags, any soft gym bag should be adequate. I use the one I got free when I joined Planet Fitness. Might as well, since it doesn't get any other use..........................

Thanks for all of the help. Guess we will go with the soft bags and use the rest of the $ for other mods.

bags

Have the set of hard bags, came with my 2011 would take offer from someone close or bring them to Maggie valley if the price was right, or near right, full set only.:chat::clap:

I know this is a bit off topic, and not to hijack, but I REALLY wish the sidebag cases themselves were deeper so we could get our full face O'neals in there. Just a small amount wider/deeper and it would fit.

You know,,,, I wonder if some clever vendor will come out with just the door portion that is made deeper? The bags would stick out a bit more, but I would buy those in a heart beat if the price were at all reasonable. nojoke

My Shark full face fits in the right hand sidecase of my 2011, on its side, neck in.
Maybe the 2011's have different shape pods, inside or out!!
cheers

Try the left (Drivers) side. We can put any Large Helmet in the right... But the left is a no for any of our full faced...
