• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2011 RS Good deal or not?

Hello, I am new and looking for some inside info.

I have been looking for a spyder for some time now and think I found a decent deal. I have seen some better deals, but none within rage of me.

2011 RS SE5 with under 6000 miles

As far as I know according to the dealer it checks out mechanically. I have done a VIN check, it looks to not be a lemon, it has no red fags, or open recalls.

I am looking at a cash out the door price of $8800. I know that accessory's do not always add to the value when buying used, but in this case most of the items I see are things I was looking at getting, so they are things I now will not need to buy.

These are just a few of the items and I know the prices are not spot on just close.

1) upgraded seat and back rest for my wife.... $1000
2) floorboards.... $500
3) windscreen.... $300
4) Helibar pullback.... $300

I am just looking for some opinions as to what people think.

In the photos there are some cosmetic issues that they said they will detail before I take delivery. Anything they can not get clean I think I can, worst case I will Plasti dip or cover with decals.

Here is a link to some pictures. I was not able to get them uploaded and didn't have the time to resize.

Doesn't look like the RSS but regular RS. Still a good price with the accessories that was added. I would pay that price. Bought a RSS 11 model for my wife with 4800 miles on it. Only added accessories was a juice box and aftermarket exhaust. I payed $9800 for it about 6 months ago.

Well....

:agree: that is an RS. Sometimes there is confusion with the transmission coding so an RS Se5 and RS Sm5 get confused and called an RSS . The RSS had some big lettering on the frunk lid and some suspension upgrades but visually the same as the GS and RS. Still a good price and nice extras. Should clean up nicely.

Welcome to this site and hope you'll be on the road soon...

RS

I was thinking it was just an RS but they had it on the bill of sale (I have not fully bought it yet) as an RS-S. I figured they knew more then me lol.

:welcome: More than half of the fun is in the shopping!
The bike looks nice, and your list of Farkles is a good start; keep in mind that it never stops!
Happy shopping, and the best of luck with the process!

I agree with the others. That one is a RS and not a RSS. I have also noticed that with at least 9 out of 10 dealerships, I know more about the bike that I am looking at then they do. I have come to the conclusion that I never trust the information that a dealer tells me about a spyder, bike, car, or truck that I am considering purchasing. As for the deal, it is a good deal from a dealership, but there are better ones out there from individuals if you are willing to wait. Although they may have to be shipped. I have noticed that the best deals on bikes and spyders seem to be in the south and eastern parts of the US. Good luck shopping.

As mentioned..an RS.
As far as good deal or not..in 2014 I purchased a 2008 GS with less than 1,500 miles for $8K. No issues thus far. Purchased from a Seadoo/Can Am dealer as part of a trade in. Dealer was awesome. Machine was clean and detailed when picked up.
Honestly, if the dealer states it's an RS-S....i would look elsewhere.

If you are liking the :ani29: and happy with the accessories as noted, it might be the time to pull the trigger.

I would check out if the RSS designation (which is wrong) was used to up the asking price. They sell for more than the RS. If so, that is a good dicker point to lower the price a bit more.

Let us know what you decide.

Thanks Everyone

I would like to thanks everyone for there input. I think at this point I am going pull the trigger and hope for the best :2thumbs:. As far as the RSS vs RS part of this, on the ad for sale is said "RS Roadster SE5" it was just the Invoice/Bill of sale that said RS-S. I should of went with the first identification and with my gut/head. It was my bad to post it as an RSS:banghead:.

2011 RS Se

One thing you might have them look @ for you is what percentage of the miles it has been driven above 4000 rpm. The reason that's important is the clutches on that particular type of transmission don't fully lock up until ~ 3400 rpm. If it's @ 60% or greater above 4000 rpm it should be golden!!. If not you might want to continue your search. They will need to hook this up to the BUDS system @ a Can Am dealership. I like those transmissions; however there are not a lot of people who drive them the way they need to be driven to ensure longevity.

FWIW

2011 Spyder RS

I have a 2011 Spyder RS-S SE5 that just turned 7500 miles and I love it.
I traded my 08 GS for the RSS. I figure I have around $9k in it after all said and done.
I think ur getting a good deal on it.
I plan to add seal boards and handlebar riser and some soft side saddlebags for this season.
Just remember what ever you choose. Enjoy the ride.
Ride safe and God Bless.
